[Resolved]  Fiat Punto Diesel — Manufacturing defect - Engine oil entered into coolant section and ruined the entire engine

Dear Sir/Madam,

I own a FIAT Punto multijet - diesel car. (Car bought on 10- Mar -2012)

My FIAT Punto multijet's oil cooler broke (manufacturing defect) and the engine oil entered into the coolant section and vice versa. This happened to my new vehicle at 15000kms. Vehicle was just 3 months old. This took place in July 2012. Vehicle was kept in the workshop for 21 days and later they replaced it with new oil cooler and returned my vehicle to me. I asked them to check the entire engine for any possible coolant entering the engine, to make sure the engine was clean and in good condition. But they refused to do so. After that the engine sounds more harsher and it roars more in lower speeds and idling. Performance of the engine came down.

From the day one am requesting them to escalate this issue as it might cause serious probs. Now am in feb' 2013. Just imagine my frustation. I wrote through your online tool, but no response. I have shooted an email to the FIAT service email id, but no response.

The manufacturing defect and lack of quality hampered my car and psychologically i could never feel it as my car.

when the engine oil entered the coolant section, the coolant also should have entered the engine block. When the oil was drained at that point, i could only find very little oil left in the engine, as most of the oil entered the coolant section and coolant hose pipes. This should have damaged the entire engine for sure. I requested them to escalate this issue, as i suspected engine damage. However, the dealer - Works manager of FIAT refused to do so. Please understand that the engine is very new and was diagnosed with this kind of manufacturing defect which spoiled my entire passion towards multijet engine. I bought this car as i trusted FIAT engineering and legacy. In fact i picked FIAT over Toyota. I still believe FIAT are the masters in technology.

I don't know how i can live with this kind of engine with these kind of problems. Just imagine if the new engine itself is doing so much trouble, then in future this engine will make me very unhappy. I don't really know whether i have made a right decision in buying a Fiat vehicle. Even after knowing it has serious after sales service issues, i opted Fiat as they claim to be masters in technology and somewhere i trusted that this company will improve. Still my faith is alive and i have to see how FIAT will respond to my problem. Then only i will decide whether this company is for me or not.

I urge you to please understand this in my point of view. I will be grateful if you can take this matter forward and help me to get this issue sorted out. Please understand that most of the people who buy FIAT are mostly people who are crazy about technology and cars.

Please note that this vehicle is 2012 make.

I To be honest, am really looking for a new engine at least. Please take back my engine and replace it with new engine which is quality checked many times.

Just imagine that i didn't even bother when your FIAT guys couldn't match the paint of the vehicle itself. When i ask them - why cant you match the shade and quality of the paint, they answer me : "Sir, no one can match the paint to the company paint. Even in Mercedes Benz, they cant match. Thats why benz people replace it with new part. they wont paint."
But the thing is, in FIAT even if i buy the entire part, they still have to paint it as it will come in dull black color only. Funny part is Mercedes benz depends on FIAT for technology and your Fiat people are talking great about mercedes benz. Why cant FIAT send some professional painters, denters and technicians. Why cant they use state of the art technology in their body shops and work shops.

Please take my word - Your service people are just pathetic. They are not transparent. They only want ratings. They can never work in front of the customer. In fact they have taken my engine for granted.

For 21 days, when my car is in garage, i used an old tata indica vista for which all tyres are worn out. The back up car which was given by the tata guys never had an AC. No good brakes. Front bumper already came out. couple of times i missed serious accidents. Vehicle smells like anything. Please tell me why should a customer who trusted FIAT, should face all these problems. Is it like only name is big, but service and honesty is zero. I don't think so. May be there is serious communication problem. Let me wait and see. And me being that 1 out of the 1000 people who trusted FIAT, i still stand by FIAT.

Your FIAT Ad says - "we have got the engines which go for net generations, now here is the service plan for you". Is my engine one of your next gen engine or not? Do you have a service plan and support for me when it really matters????

Hope my engine will be replaced. Please do something before time runs out.

By this time i have already incurred a lot of monies, missed a lot of personal satisfaction, got may insults from other car owners for choosing a brand like Fiat. I also have to miss some important projects in those critical days. Yet after this, your Fiat people never responded to my complaint and request till date.

Hope you will sort out my problem soon.

This has been resolved. Please delete this. Parts are replaced and now going fine Radiator, oil pipes, hose pipes, coolant section and oil cooler are replaced. However, the quality is not an issue, but it's the cooler which made a little noise
