I have booked ( Cleartrip Trip ID: [protected] ) a room for 3 Adults and 1 child and from 02-Oct-2015 to 04-Oct-2015 at Prokriti Bon Hotel, Shantiniketan, West Bengal with breakfast.
Cleartrip confirmed me the booking on that and send me all the required vouchers over email immediately after my booking on 28-Sep-2015 Monday.
Just out of curiosity and to me on the safe side, since I am travelling with two ladies and one child, I called up the hotel to confirm my reservation. To my surprise The hotel told me that Cleartrip had acted on their own and book me the room without their consent when they did not have any room available.
I immediately contacted Cleartrip with this information and they told me that I would get a resolution shortly and that they are escalating my case. After that 6 calls were made by me all with the response that an illusive concerned team will get back to me (Point to remember here is that these calls are excruciatingly long because of the hold time. I recorded a few of these calls which I made from my mobile one of them raging to 20 mins of wait time after which I dropped off).
The last with them when I insisted that I get connected immediately, I was connected to someone beyond a call center (Probably from booking) by the name of Ritesh.
To my surprise even he informed me that he needs to get the response from the concerned team and after some talking with him he got me options of two hotels, which were once again a low quality property. One had a horrible trip adviser rating and the other had only one rating. Very clearly I refused both properties.
I also informed the guy that I am ready to pay a Rs.1000 extra in case a better property is available. I was also ready to let the breakfast go away.
*** Here comes the bigger pain in the call, A guy who calls himself a Marketing manager who from the word go was arrogant enough for me not to deal with Cleartrip again. This guy comes on the call and simply indicates with an attitude "This is what you get, take it or Leave it". What was even more shocking is, when I mentioned "what if I had not called the hotel or you guys and landed their as per the booking, he replied "you have not done that, that is what could have happened in future". After having faked my booking he still had the guts to talk to me in such an arrogant tone. So much so that he even shouts at me saying, "I do not want to talk to people like you" and advice the booking guy to take this conversation over email. To make the experience even worst he simply hangs up after shouting on me." This is the worst customer service I have ever seen even when they have made a mistake. I would definitely want to see to the end of this through the consumers forum for punitive action unless I am given a acceptable alternative.
