I sent the following complaint to the company with no luck at getting a reply from them. Now they are threatening to send a legal notice without giving any explanation about how the amount they are demanding is justified.

1. I started living in Colive Hilton on 31st August and stayed there till 30th December 2022. There I faced a lot of issues due to which I came to work from home in October and November while still paying your company rent. Here are some of the many issues that I have faced during my stay at Colive Hilton -

2. There is no direct communication between the tenant and the manager. The person who claims to be the manager of the property does not have any power or authority. Even for petty issues, he would suggest raising a service request that costs the tenant unnecessary costs.

3. During the initial days, the lift did not work, When I went to book the room in early August, the sales manager promised that the lift issue would be resolved before the move-in date and showed the room on the 3rd floor. On the date of check-in, I was given the room on the 5th Floor rather than the room which was promised, with the lift still not in working condition, due to which whenever I had to go to my room or to go out of the building, I had to climb up or down five floors every time. Even when the lift used to work, it used to get stuck while going up or down due to which I myself got stuck in it a few times.

4. The electricity bill for a small room with bare minimum usage was charged around Rs. 1100 per month. I don’t know how my usage amounted to Rs. 1100 when most of the time I remained out of the room and city. Moreover, the manager said that the usage is divided among everyone, wherein their staff was not included. And this staff was actually the one using up most of that. Also, there was no mention of the electricity bill to be paid by us as told by the sales manager. When I asked them about why I was being charged electricity bill, they said that there have been some changes in the rules. Hence your people don’t even know what the customer will be charged for and as a norm when no other PG is charging for electricity, I as a customer gets fooled by your misleading policy. For the first month my electricity bill was Rs.274 which shot up to Rs.1156 from the next month. How is this increase of four times possible within a month when I wasn’t even in the premises.

5. I was being charged Rs.236 extra for Wi-Fi for which I contacted the manager but none of your property managers gave any reply. Manager just said that it’s a part of the policy and that from now on there will be additional charges without any proper explanation. I tried to raise a request but there was not any category which addressed my problem.

6. Food was supposed to be there twice daily except on Sunday. But in the morning, it became a race amongst everyone in the PG to get the food as there was a lack of quantity every single day. After raising multiple service requests and contacting your Growth Manager Mr. Siddhant, the quantity was never made sufficient. Though in the service request resolution, it was always said that your issue has been resolved and the quantity will be increased. The timings of the breakfast were supposed to be from 7:30 – 9:30 a.m., here the breakfast was always finished at 8 a.m. and for a person who had to work during the night, this timing completely ruined our schedule as I had to wake up early to eat breakfast and sleep again.

7. For small issues like the LED bulb in the room not working, or water not coming through the tap, we had to raise a service request for which you are charging Rs. 250. It never made sense that a thing that we have not broken, why should we pay extra to get it fixed.

8. When clearly, it’s the responsibility of the PG to take care of the bedsheets I kept on raising service tickets but had to use the same bedsheet for 4 months as there were no more bedsheets available for change as per your local staff.

9. The sales manager promised a Table and Chair at the time of booking when I will move in. The staff kept those things in their own room but always said that the company is running low on stock and I never got mine. Moreover, the lock in my cupboard was not working from day one for which I asked the manager to get it fixed, but didn’t fix it and asked me to raise a service request which would have again cost me money to fix things that were already broken before I even checked in and even notified them on day one.

10. In October, the water supply stopped. Luckily at that time, I was not in the PG, but many residents kept complaining about this issue on the WhatsApp group of the PG, after which the resolution the management came up with was to make the WhatsApp group Admin only and no one else was allowed to message. Also, during this period, electricity was cut in the building as your company did not pay the electricity bill, which made everyone suffer.

11. In December, local staff took the only room key I had to get a duplicate key made. I was left without a key and locking the door before going out was not an option due to which for 10 days I had to leave my room open whenever I went out. Whenever I tried contacting the management for the keys, either the staff cut the call or rudely asked me what is so precious in my room that I want to protect. As the lock of the cupboard was also not working, it created a lot of issues.

12. Even the managers kept on changing. There was no certainty. One manager used to promise one thing and the next day he was transferred. Three managers were changed within the span of just one month.

13. All these issues affected me mentally and physically as there was no proper food, lack of promised services and cleanliness was also not regularly done. We had to call the cleaner every time and that too maybe once in ten days we got the room cleaned. After facing all these issues, I told the manager that I will have to leave the property in an emergency as I was not feeling well. He said that if I vacate before 31st December, my security money will be confiscated as the damage for not serving the notice period of January to which I readily agreed and left on 30th December after making sure that no dues were left before leaving and I had to pay nothing.

14. I vacated and handed over the keys of my room and left the property in broad daylight with all my luggage before your property staff only after telling them and after confirming that no dues were left on me and also asked them to check if everything in room was in place and the same can be confirmed by CCTV of 30th December 2022.

15. When I am resting in my home town company started sending me emails like recovery goons as I had looted your property if there is some issue it can be informed, I have provided every single correct personal detail and then your company is sending threatening emails like you will ruin my CIBIL score or send me a legal notice for the 23k.

16. Your company has calculated that I owe you around Rs.36, 389 and after adjusting my security deposit of Rs.13, 000, it would come to around Rs.23, 389 without providing any details or calculation formula of rent charged and electricity charges or other charges.

i. As email dated 16th Feb, 2023, you have charged Rs.17, 709 as RentOS. I am unable to understand when I had cleared rent up to December, 2022, then where does this figure come from?

ii. You have charged Rs. 2430 as electricity charges for vacant room in this bill whenever in the bill of January 1st, 2023, the electricity bill amount was Rs.1154.

iii. There is mention of some separation charges amounting to Rs.3250. What is this for?

17. When I am trying to reach out to your customer care, or the managers, nobody is responding or if by chance company staff are picking up the call, you are not giving the reply. I paid the rent within the due date for 4 months straight and even for the 2 months I didn’t stay in the property, I duly paid the service charges and electricity bill even though I didn’t use anything.

18. If you do not stop threatening me like this, I will also have to take appropriate legal action available under the law of the Land.

19. I made sure that I had no dues before leaving. Now I came to know through various social media and complaint portals that hundreds of other tenants have faced similar issues where they are sent threatening emails and asked to pay made-up dues or in other cases, the security deposit was not returned.

20. I tried joining the zoom call under the escalation tab (for which I can provide a screen recording), as on the page it was mentioned that we can directly contact higher management. But as expected, the zoom meeting link is not working. We tried every single way possible to contact the company but failed to get any response.

You are requested to look into the above matter and resolve the issue at the earliest.

    We booked 2 rooms for four members through colive and when we reached the location the owner of the PG was saying that nobody contacted us from colive and rooms are not available also ..
    The person who called was no longer picking the call
    We gave 1999/- per person for booking

      As we are living in Colive Nevada from last 2 months and suddenly on 3rd month bill they have added car parking charges, which was informed first come will get the parking as only one car parking is available. Then new tenant came and asked for parking and said he is ready for pay and from very next day they asked for parking charges and added in their booklet.

      Asking for unwanted charges, even there is only place for 1 car parking, but we have adjusted for other and let them park. No proper garbage disposal, because of that rodents chewed our car's engine wires and we have to get it fixed and paid for that twice. Even to extend for 2-3 days asking for complete month rent. simply looting the people and if someone is saying i will for that, getting idea and immediately adding new things in their booklet, so no one can say it was not there. parking charges 3000, even there is no space and asking for this much money, even in big societies they are asking 1K for extra parking space.

        I was looking pg on colive so i got contacted from one of the sales manager Ashothos mobile no [protected]. He said there is 50% offer is going on so i should pay 3000 for booking so i paid. I have attached the payment proof and chats. This payment was done by one of the link by colive site official provided by Ashothos. But now he not pick my call and not responding on chat. I trying to contact daily upto 1 week. But there is no respons . I want to move within this week. So please forward this complaint as priority. I have paid two set of amount 1500 and one more 1500 rs. So please check the attachment and please refund or please give me room. colive i totally upset sorry to say. Please reject Ashothos from your company.

            At the time of Joining your executive told the rent is 16000/-. The security deposit is 18000/-which will be fully refundable and 2000/- rupees will be charges and the prorated rent of the14451 I has paid while joining. I has paid the January month rent of 16000/- and current bill & some service charge but still they are showing the Outstanding charges of 1690 regarding this I has spoken to the community manager Mr.Chandan & Executive Reshma also. They told to leave that it is not supposed to pay by month end it would get cleared they told.I has vacated the property Colive 756 Palmer room No 103 on 30th January. After a lot of Arguments with them they sent the settlement letter that the refundable amount is 10060/-. They are showing the Outstanding charges of 1680/-, Current bill of 2000/-even the greyser doesn't work but current bill 2000/- and separation charges of 4250/- which your executive not told to me in the earlier while joining. What do you mean by separation charges???
            While joining they commit for something and after vacating the property they charge the wrong charges

              I am a 21 year old girl who recently moved to Bangalore. I’ve been living in Colive sunrise for almost a month now. I booked it online when I was home but I have to shift to Bangalore because of my work. When I got here they gave me a store room to stay in. After I kept persuading them to give me a private room for which I had paid money for, they gave me a room which looked fine first. I shifted to that room on 1st February. Starting days I saw a few cockroaches but I got rid of them myself but I didn’t understand the severity of the situation. Day by day they started growing more and it was difficult to walk in the room without stepping on at least 3 cockroaches. I notified the manager and filed a service request for pest control immediately but there was no response. I kept calling them everyday to get rid of the insects but at one point they starting speaking to me in a very rude manner and kept cutting my calls. One day I noticed my back is itching a lot nowadays and I checked and saw rashes and bites all over it. I asked someone to help me pick up the mattress and I saw a hoard of cockroaches, insects and even a few bedbugs living underneath my mattress where I sleep. I notified the manager and higher authorities of Colive but they didn’t respond. Me and some acquaintances helped me get rid of some of those insects on my bed. It has been 2 weeks and no response. When I tried raising a notice period for shifting out they said that’s not possible and they can’t provide that because it can be raised only on the 1st of each month. But I had shifted that month itself and I didn’t know the severity of this problem. They are practically forcing me to stay in that room for another month. I’ve fallen ill in this one month almost 3 times till now and I request someone to please assist me getting my deposit back.

                I Was Told By The Colive Representative That I Would Be Getting A Place To Stay In Kundanahalli, Bangalore. And She Made Me Pay The Advance On 28th January And Was Told We Can Shift By 31st January And When I Went To The Property, There Is No Rooms Available And The Colive People Was Not Giving A Proper Resolution, Talking Rude Over Whatsapp, Not Attending Calls, No Replies. This Also Made Us Vacate Our Previous Pg And Lead Us To Take Hotel Rooms For Few Days Till We Get Our New Place To Stay. Kindly Connect With Us

                  I am writing this complaint letter to bring to your attention the unprofessional and unsatisfactory services provided by Colive PG. I had stayed in one of their properties in Bangalore and had paid a security deposit of Rs 10, 000 at the time of check-in.

                  After vacating the premises, I had requested for the refund of the security deposit. However, even after repeated follow-ups and reminders, Colive PG did not return the security deposit. It was only after a long and tiring process that they sent a cheque, which was subsequently dishonored, causing me inconvenience and an additional expense of Rs 200.

                  This is highly unacceptable and unprofessional behavior on the part of Colive PG. I request you to take immediate action and ensure that my security deposit is refunded without any further delay. I also request for compensation for the inconvenience and the expense incurred due to the dishonored cheque.

                  I hope this issue will be resolved at the earliest and such incidents will not be repeated with other customers in the future.

                    I was asked to vacate the property i stayed in COLIVE - LEWES - BTM 1st stage, without notice because they had a problem with the property. I was made to pay my pre-paid rent 10k one day before, now they refuse to pay the rent i paid and also the advance. the CEO and others are ignoring my messages and requests....

                    I, Oindrila Chakraborty was staying at Isthara Colive Mustang in Bangalore property from 30th June 2022 and left the property on 22nd Sept 2022. as per the rules, I was supposed to get b ack my deposit of INR 13, 000 within 30 working days. I have made multiple attempts to resolve this get the deposit back however they have still not heard from them. they are ignoring my calls and not responding to my emails. Attached the documents

                      I tried to book a PG in Hyderabad. A guy named Ranjeet 1st showed me a PG under 8k. He took ₹2999 as advance deposit. When i went there for visit there was no rooms available for me. I asked for a refund( which they said would be refunded) but they assigned a different agent to me saying that he will show me a new PG under 8k. So he showed me another PG and asked for ₹1500 again as “Security Deposit”. When i went there the owner said that it’s ₹10, 000 for triple sharing. I asked for double sharing though.
                      When i asked for refund they 1st ignored me for 2 months. And when lastly i talked to them they handed the phone to their female manager ( who by the way was very rude and not helpful at all). She said it’s not refundable.
                      Then why did your agents are saying it’s refundable before taking deposit?
                      I want my deposit which is ( 2999+1500 = 4999) back.

                        Fraud company, taken booking amount and when I want refund they are not responding, before payment they amount will be full refunded if at any point of time I feel dissatisfied and now they are not picking call, not replying messages. They will have to refund else I will file complain in consumer forum also.

                          Colive customer care executive made false promises and taken booking amount, when I was dissatisfied with the service now they are ñot ready to make refund, not picking calls, not replying messages, before they promised to refund full amount and now they cheating, I am feeling cheated, kindly lodged complain against them.

                            I stayed in Property Name: Garnet B_501 for a duration and paid the security deposit which I was told will be refunded and I raised the request for the same to transfer the amount from Colive wallet to my bank account but it's been more than 5 months and haven't heard from you people a single thing. I complained and raised this matter but didn't receive any response on the matter.

                              I raised my notice period in October 30 2022 and checked out on November 30 2022. I cleared all my dues when I checked out. I haven’t received my deposit back though I raised the notice period well in advance and cleared my dues. Now they are asking me rent when I have already moved out and are saying that they’ll take a legal action.

                              I also have not received my deposit amount back .

                                Security money not refunded with harassment

                                I, Sneha Ghosh checked in colive madison pg on 18/06/2022 paying 13 thousand as deposit along with monthly rent. As informed i have raised my notice period(7 Aug) month before vacating the property to which i have received proper acknowledgment and confirmation from the company (attached photo) . On the designated date when i tried to leave the Property (8th Sept) they were shouting at me saying that the notice period has not been raised...

Colive Agent Told me Room Rent is 14K and Deposit is 15K as he also checked with Owner but While I checked with Owner separately then Owner Told Room Rent is 22K so I trying to Checked with Colive Agent for My Refund as i don't want that room but he is not picking my calls and not Giving response my messages. He looted our money and doing Scam . I need help from your side now please . I am attaching all details and chat with Colive agent .                                   I Reserved Royal Studio Doddanekundi Bangalore behalf of my friend on 28th November With 2999 and Colive Agent Told it's Refundable.                                     I have made a payment of rs1500 in colive for looking PG in bangalore, but i found a better place to stay . I tried calling customer service but it was of no use at all, i would really appreciate if you process the payment refund to my bank account .
