This is to register a formal complaint against auto-rickshaw with license no GJ-1 BY-9388 for overcharging me (License No: 072038/04). Mobile printed on the rickshaw is [protected]
My wife and I had landed from flight 6E 937 Indigo from Chennai (Around 17:00 hrs) and we caught up the above mentioned auto-rickshawawala and after lot of pestering we agreed to go to Sunrise Park, Vastrapur on metre (with additional Rs 30/- parking charges, that they demand from us). As we were pretty tired we agreed. Near Akbarnagar Chowk (on 132 feet ring road), the rickshaw conked off because of lack of oil. We agreed to pay the fare and catch the next auto. However, the auto metre (not the flag posted) read the reading as 248 points, which is un imaginable and the auto driver charged us Rs 95/- plus Rs 30/- i.e. Rs 125/-. We were astounded, as last week i.e. on 09/08/2012 we had reached airport and we were charged around Rs 150/-.
Now this was during the evening and there isn't any extra charge we had to bear. We protested against the charges and had an arguement with him. He was unwilling to change his stand and also wanted the full parking amount. The other auto-drivers gathered together and also said that airport fares are different for rest of the city which we do agree.
I am doing my duty of informing you. I expect that you will heed the complaints of citizens like me who have no recourse to law except to write such letters after being exploited. There isn't any proof of evidence for such an offence. We as citizens can only draw attention to this and expect curbing such acts by auto drivers. In case there is some action taken, we would be glad if it is shared with against the erring auto-rickshaw driver, b) Please advise me on how to go about in such cases in future and c) tell me also what steps you plan to take to solve the problem on a permanent basis.
