We had a similar experience with Executive Ship Management. They are a totally unprofessional company.
They took possession of my husband's passport and CDC on the pretext of arranging for visas.

There is a lot to write, but to make a long story short... After the company failed to honor the contract terms, my husband withdrew his application and requested that his documents be sent back. The company did not respond and he had to personally go to collect them.
Even then they did not return the passport. After several phone calls, they asked us to pay Rs. 57000 for returning the passport. The expenses mentioned in the expense sheet were severely inflated and also included costs of briefing at Singapore (which is a company requirement arranged haphazardly without prior notice)

We had to pay the ransom to get back our passport. Just to warn other seafarers against such companies. Or ask for indemnity before u submit any documents.
Sir
Thanks for the comment, I experienced similar treatment with fleet management company also. For safety it is better that we take a letter from their office about the exact terms of the contract before surrendering the pass port and cdc.In fleet they asked me to do a course, I checked with them if they are signing me as master for which they confirmed verbally. On faith, i submitted the documents and they asked me to do a costly course, On attending the course and completing the course I never got the certificate as fleet had not paid the money. On the day of signing the contract they told me there is a change of plan and i had to join as c/off and get promoted, but similar promise from the company failed in the last contract and i refused to accept. They refused to give the passport and asked me to pay for the course fee. I told them I never got any certificate and company had not paid any fee to the institute so i need not pay, but I know the mentality of such company and had to join the ship on a five months contract as additional master. So all youngsters be aware of such hypes from the company. Always before surroundering the passport make sure that you take in writing what you want and what they want.
