Yep, I believe such websites are crooked to the limit of deploying bots that virtually prevent anyone from winning a bid. I think those few users who keep bidding all the time are not even people but system generated users to lure dimwitted humans.
You cannot buy a Nikon D 90 for 900 bucks! Any one who claims that is making a fool out of you.

well thats absolutely true.. when i purchased the bids and tried bidding, when i make most of my bids the price went on increasing and increasing like generally if a product is sold for rs 1000, it went on till 5000 which is not exactly possible . . but as i stopped suddenly someone is the winner.. i feel like these are the computer generated ids of the company which are befooling people.. beware from such a fraud.
I too witnessed the same .. the www.spicybids.com is making money by fooling people. All the winners are seemed to be insiders of spicybids company. Serious action needs to be taken against these fraudsters. Beware. I request to take serious action against this website and its owner asap before there are more victims.
This is an official response from the SpicyBids team:
It is not a policy of ours to begin responding to slanderous articles but this article in particular is so erroneous that it demands a response.
‘First point, if you keep a close look, you will see that the products keep repeating’. How is this fraudulent? What kind of shop stocks only one of each item? We do not deal in antiques. This is an absurd claim.
‘Second point, are there only handful of people to bid in a website in a country as big as INDIA or World?’ Consult the independent traffic ranking site Alexa for proof that this ridiculous claim is horribly wrong. http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/spicybids.com#trafficstats
‘Third point is, if a consumer starts bidding, the bid will continue and won't end at all, till the same repeating users win the bid’. This is nonsensical.
‘Moral of the story is’ – do some research before you write slanderous articles with unsubstantiated claims about someone’s business and livelihood.
We also encourage people to try the 15 freebid auctions as you have posted another absurd example.
Additionally, it should be noted the calibre of some of the other people who have been posting comments on this article, most notably Parvesh Jagga, who has never purchased bids on our site but has made 73 different accounts in attempt to scam other users. We have ways of catching thieves like him and is obviously aggrieved enough after being caught out to spread lies about us as well.
Responsible Bidding.
Spicybids is a reverse auction site where users have to pay for the right to bid on an auction. There is a fee for placing bids on item. This fee allows us to give away items for a fraction of the actual retail price. Spicybids is meant to be fun way of grabbing a few bargains, not a substitute for purchasing the item itself. Due to multiple users bidding on the same item there is no guarantee that everyone can win.

Hi spicybids!
Please Enlighten us on the following:
1) Where is your office located? if you are long term in the game, why can't you let us know your whereabouts. I suppose your website is hosted out of country other than India. That is not a real issue, but why you are not transparent?
2) Which courier company you have tied up with to deliver the goods?
3) Why in term and conditions, you have mentioned - all disputes shall be taken up in courts of Hong Kong? you are doing business with Indians right?
4) Why don't you publish true names and contact details of people who have won? we can get the true picture from them directly?
5) Who are the promoters of the company? what are their credentials? How do we know its not some ponzy scheme?
these are just few of the questions... I have lot more...lets see if you respond now...

I agree. Spicybids.com seems to be a fraud website. And the worst part is they have enough money to run their ads on websites like Facebook, Google etc. People get attracted by their ads on these reputed websites. I think their ads should be restricted by websites like Facebook, Google etc.
Spicybids are a total scam. I will shortly lodge a formal complaint with the Indian and International Agencies dealing with internet fraud and would request all those who have been defrauded by these tricksters to do the same.
The concept of bidding should be different.
step1: Someone should register in their website.
step2: They should pay a nominal charge to participate in the bidding. Say 100 rs to participate.
Step3: users should be able to enter their bidding amount. So it wont increase by one ruppee each time.
Step4: the one who bids more finally and that final bidder should get the item with the bidding price.
I guess if someone starts a bidding site with these steps then people will really appreciate it.

COMPLETELY FRAUD SITE. AVOID THE WEBSITE AT ALL COSTS!
Am ashamed to say that I have fallen for this fraud big time. I have lost over 25k bidding on a product 2apr'10 till early morning 3rd apr. i bid continuously for a product for 12straight hrs till 6.10am in the morning. Finally, I got tired and went of off to sleep and found out later on that the bidding closed promptly at 6.45am!! there was relentless bidding against me by the same people for 12hrs and suddenly they disappeared the moment i stopped bidding.
On 4th apr late afternoon i started following one more auction intermittently and followed it till the very end for around 9hrs. there were 4-5names who were bidding continuously for more than 2-3hrs and suddenly "GOR1981" came and bid once it said auction over. see even in the last 10 bids which they display, while all the names have been displayed more than once proving that they have bid a few times, this guys name doesnt even feature on it. the product was apparently a 3G iphone, auction closed at 5th april - 1am.
http://www.spicybids.com/detailauction/1854
NOW, the interesting part is last time this 3G iphone was auctioned off on the website was on 3rd april 8pm. and guess who has won the auction - "GOR1981"!!!
http://www.spicybids.com/detailauction/1853
So its clear that its a complete fraud! i guess for new visitors to the website PLEASE look through their website and realise that there is NO contact address what so ever. Anyways, am getting these information across the cyber crimes division, lets see.
Hopefully new users will be smarter and come across these posts prior to bidding.

Guys I disagree to this! Infact, I also thought this site is a fraud...but i Just won 15 free bids for Rs. 6 and I am not at all from their side! So, I guess you all are wrong! Even, my friend got a PS3 from them! They do sell items, but they have a huge profit as well...because many players buy bids and then use them in bidding, but only one player wins the bid...so, they got back so many bids that they sold!
@ Debayan:
What you can only win from Spicybids ever is free bids...which need to be exhausted on the website itself and cant be transferred elsewhere...and if your friend has won the PS3, ask him to share his experience with us...
But do a little due diligence before putting money...what is their business model, plan? There is hardly any information on whats behind the scenes...and if you see Alexa Rank, this website is only available in India and Indonesia...strange??
Meanwhile another gem from terms and conditions:
Winning Limits.
Spicybids reserves the right to limit the number of auctions user can win.
And about the products...Lot of sony vaio laptops have OS as vista and processor as before coree duo family? do you think sony would stock that? the product descriptions are all shameless ripoff from Amazon.com
and I never heard apple selling iphones without service providers...In India, you have Airtel and Vodafone selling iphones with their bundled services are whatever...iphone is not an off the shelf phone which can be used with any kinda service...So what does unlocked iphone means>? Illegal??

I am also like other people went to the bidding by using certain amount of money. But I never won any bid. At certain point of time, I lost all my points due to one person while bidding continuously with me. Hence, I thought that I should contact him thru' mail which I successfully did. From him, I learnt he has spent huge money and he won 2 items in the bidding and which also he got from them the website - one was the 25, 000rs. hot cash credited to his account and also a gift voucher which he has won.
From him, it is clear that if you win that you are sure to get the product. But winning is the problem as many computer bots are run by the website to increase the price. Otherwise, the website will land up in loss. And most of the ids which are winning the products are computer bots only which you can figure out from the names they use. Real names are also different hence I was able to contact one such person thru' email.
Hence the bidding in this site is luck and time should favour you to win the prize. Otherwise only the website will be on the loss. This is the basic working principle of the website which I can understand.
And I am still doing bidding without investing extra money now and trying my luck. It is just like a gambling and this is not the place for people who are greedy to buy products at cheap rate. This is like lottery. If one understand, they can refrain from the website. And those who have excess money like black money can spend their time in this game of gambling for fun.
