[Resolved]  http://www.spicybids.com/home/ — Cheating People By Bidding

Spicybids is a fraud website. The concept behind the fraud is to make people bid and do not give them any products. And they charge for each bid.

This is how it works. A consumer has to register and pay money to buy bids. For Rs.3200 they give 100bids (they have different rates for different numbers). Once you buy bids, you can start bidding. For each bid that you click they charge around Rs. 32 (again depends on the bids that you buy). When the bid is about to close, some one can bid again and the timer extends for 20 seconds. This will countinue till no one bids, and the last bidder wins the product.

Now I'll explain how the company is making others fraud. First point, if you keep a close look, you will see that the products keep repeating (because they are showing the same products again and again). Second point, consumers also keep repeating (are there only handful of people to bid in a website in a country as big as INDIA or World?). Third point is, if a consumer starts bidding, the bid will continue and won't end at all, till the same repeating users win the bid)

Moral of the story is some one has started a website and they are minting money by collecting money just to bid in the website and they make sure some of their own company staff itself gets the product. This way they get money and they don't have to sell any product. That is why the product & the users keeps repeating. And if a consumer who is not from their company bids, the bid will not end.

You can try this out. Keep bidding for a '15free bids'. The value will keep increasing and will not end (May go more than 70-80). And if you check the winners area you will see that generally '15free bids' go for Rs.3-20. Please avoid using this website. And I request the responsible people to take action against the owners of this website.

I haven't tried bidding, but a whois lookup on spicybids says the registrant information is protected. Registrant information is usually details like the company's registered head office city, boardline, etc.

Not having contact info on the site is like living in a house with no nameplate; but a whois guard is like posting a bodyguard outside the gate who says, "Nobody lives here, now leave quietly" if you knock.

Sounds like a scam, doesn't it?
is it?
i tooo chkd up with Who.is !!
the details are strange !!
i couldn't agree more. the few times i was the entry bid for the event and no one else had bid when the timer went 00:00, (meaning that i should have done) the clock automatically reset for additional 15 secs and then the auto bidding started (i am most definitely convinced that this is being managed internally by the company). just check all the 15 bid free auctions and see the number of times it has gone to bidder spicybider. ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH MANY COMMENTS I HAVE SEEN. IT IS RIGGED FOR SURE!!!
Does anyone have an idea on whom we need to complain about this? No wonder the company does business in India (we have such weak laws when it comes to cyber crimes / frauds)
ABSOLUTE SCAMSTERS!!! THE WHOLE BIDDING PROCESS IS RIGGED!
these people are scamsters. they are even promoting themselves with articles about them - praising themselves when the search term is spicybids + fraud or scam!!! can you believe it ?
Well any penny auction website can have a fraud as there may be the company itself engaged in bidding to ensure increase of earning for the auction company. I read posts which spoke of such frauds from penny auction websites.

Visit http://www.bestebazaar.com, Buyers get to purchase the products at a lower price. Sellers post their auctions and buyers can buy the product at anytime they want. its like buyers deciding their own price for buying.

It has a buyer protection program. Buyers have to confirm receipt of the shipment before the money is given to the seller.

Check it out.
Spicy Bids is a total Frauad its a foolish game time and money waste...
plz beware of this site...

www.spicybids.com — Fraud

http://www.spicybids.com/ seems to be a fraud website which is cheating people on the name of online audition.
we can easily notice this as the same people are bidding once and again(24 hours and even more than ) except a few(who are the actual bidders).

is there any possibility that I will get justice as I have spent 5570.49 Rs and the money would be refunded.
The claim that they are fraud because of the way they sell is incorrect. Instead it should be noted its a Gambling site. How many people complain about the Casino's where people put money to try their luck and win. How many actually won there ? If I were to run a business like Swoopo or SpicyBids I dont need to do anything. There are so many foolish people who'll come and bid no matter you tell its a fraud. Only way to stop innocent people from getting fooled is by making them to clearly show its a GAMBLING site and person spending money is responsible for his gains or loss. And I suppose Gambling is not a crime.

In India although there are no laws that bar internet gambling specifically, the official government stance is that the existing laws governing gambling offline is sufficient enough to curb Internet gambling as well.

Lets all pray nobody registers at SpicyBids or Swoopo or any penny bidding sites and they go bankrupt and shut down. I know how it works and I don't even want to try their free bids.
Yes, they are a fraud website. DON'T TRY IT.
SpicyBids.com is a fraud website. They are cheating the Indian people.
I'm the latest bakra.
I admit I was fool & got attracted, pulled by the bid for camera.
Now i'll ask my friends who are on the facebook, not to bid on this site. this is what we all can do definitely. so let's do our part.

Cheers,

Vasant
Spicybids is a fraud just like magic bid etc - complete 100% fraud, they think users are and will shell out there hard earned money just like this. There own people are bidding and winning, maybe the whole thing is automated...no transparency no liability, what a big fraud...i think its a way bigger fraud and scam than wat Satyam's Raju did or what our politicians do...

I request everybody affected by spicybids to take an initiative and contact cyber cell headquarters in Mumbai via phone or email. They wont ask you to go for any legal FIR etc, you can just report the matter to them and they will investigate the whole thing themselves...lets do it in big numbers to ensure that the culprits are brought to justice and this cheating is stooped.

Thank you for all for alerting me. I was about to buy bids and try my luck here.
This is an eye opener website. Create awareness to all people about this fraud.
Facebook should ban such advertisements. It will lose its reputation otherwise.
DO NO GO FOR SPICYBIDS.COM ITS A FRAUD
Guys, i know many of you are absolutely frustrated that hard earned money was lost and the as Apurbasg and a few others have gone into the details of what transpires. I too truely invested around rs 18, 000 and followed suggestions by waiting untill the price appeared right for a nikon camera and then when it reached the amount that appeared to be the winning price for the previous few days I tried to go all out. What happened was that a couple o[censored]ser ids suddenly popped up and kept beating me down till I nearly ran out of bids and then then in a few mins, just after the price had rocketted to an all time high for that week, partly because of my contribution, some one popped up just then and bagged the camera. I was left so dissapointed as I had saved this money over 6 months and there went my last chance of getting a nikon camera. But then, just because some o[censored]s didn't get to win it may not necessarily mean that they are frauds. Now don't pounce on me as I am not from Spicy bids. I am just another lay person like you guys whose lost a chance to own a D90 for a long long time. I do know a friend who did win an Apple ipod and I am hoping these guys are truely doing what they claim to do which is reverse auction. It may be true that they may be using bots or programs to boost up the rates to keep themselves afloat but how else can they sustain? I have been studying the buying pattern for nearly a month now to see if I can use my last few remaining points to win and I hope I do. I'll keep you posted whichever way it goes. no need to feel ashamed about it. In anycase, for those of you who have friends in the US and can use their address to ship and then collect when your friends return to India, i would suggest www.ubid.com These guys don't charge anything for bidding and I had a very pleasant experience. You pay only when you win and I can vouch for them as I did win my HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop from them for $450 about 2 years ago. [bugbugb08]
What I fail to understand, why Cyber Crime Cell is not blocking the site in India?
Hello Friends, I am one of the targets of SpicyBids.com and this rite here is my experience. The reason i got into this mess is because they posted their advertisement through Facebook. Now who would think that on FB is not legitimate? Atleast I didn't! Ok, so I wanted a D90 desperately and at the same time the Spicybids add popped up on FB stating that they were giving away D90s at as low as Rs 1, 590. Feeling really excited, I logged on to Spicybids website and checked...i saw expensive stuff being won for really cheap prices! Amazing! I too wanted to be a part of this mania so i bought the mega pack - 600 bids at Rs.13, 500. I took this damn thing to the next level...i checked historical rates at which the D90 was won for, found the average prices and waited for the D90 bids to reach much above the historical prices. This was when i would put all my bids into winning the D90. The day arrived; the D90 reached my target price...now, I pulled out my pack of cigarettes, made some coffee, got the ashtray and arranged it all around my laptop...the feeling of finally being the owner of a D90 was exhilarating. I started bidding and the thought came to my mind that at a minimum the price would be pushed up not by Rs.600 but by Rs.1200 (considering minimum 1 opponent bidding on my bids)...the chances of winning increased in my head. 4 hours into bidding, i was done with my bids...they were gone. So I, like a fool, bought 600 more bids to avoid loosing my initial investment! *#$@ing Ridiculous! another 3 hours down and I had lost 1200 bids...the bids dont mean nothing so in Rupees terms I had lost Rs.28, 000. I stopped right there and didn't want to loose further...guess what! just after I stopped bidding, the camera was won!!! the competitors were gone, and a winner emerged!!! I was the looser who lost 28 grand! I am also guessing there are several people loosing their money every day on this and no one's doing anything about it...4-5 days later, i thought of something to get my money back...and guess what! I got my money back! Yes I did! But I learnt a big lesson - Before you put your money into something, think twice and research five times :) gud luck friends! my email is rocks.r.[protected]@gmail.com
I am one more victim of this site, I believe. From facebook i went to this link.. believing in facebook credits. I did one bid then it took me the credit card payment area. I thought i wont the product and paid the money :(. But it very shame even without reading full I paid the money, then later i realized i paid for only buying credits. Then i started my ground works, even i am late and landed to this review site. I don't no how to get back my money now :(. Need to stop this bull guy from looting money from people just like that.

It sure for scam, I will be happy, If have saved some one money
