I have a i-10 era purchased in April 2008. The car has been driven 9000 Kms till date, yesterday I faced the same problem of EPS malfunctioning and the steering becoming hard as a boulder. It was night and I was midway between Mumbai and Pune. Somehow I have managed to reach Pune but I have no idea as to what should I do next. I was fortuntate that I had opted for extended warranty which should probably save some repair charges. Sorry to say that my trust with Hyundai has been shattered (after all how can a korean understand indian market better). In my mind, the king of cars is Maruti and shall rule forever. There's is nothign that can beat a Maruti in terms of consistency and performance also service included.

I have just experienced a similar problem with my Hyundai i10. Its been 2 years since I bought the car and its under an extended warranty period.
This problem does not occur while driving, but only when I start the engine after the car has been lying idle for some time. If I start the engine immediately the 'EPS' indication stays lit and the steering feels hard to turn. but then I turn off the car, turn it back on, wait for a few seconds and then turn on the engine...this time the EPS indication goes away and it rides fine.
I will have this checked soon

I have also experienced the same problem in my i 10 Magna which was purchased 2 years ago. The steering feels harder than a truck. I approached hyundai service center, Rambagh, Jaipur. After checking the car, he advised to get replaced the EPS motor which costs approximately Rs. 25, 000/-. it is impossible for me to replace the motor in such huge amount. I think that the best car for Indian roads is Maruti and TATA only. This is only for European countries where the roads and users are sophisticated. I am very unsatisfied with the delicacy of Hyundai cars. What can I do? Please suggest how can I get the motor in cheap. Please Email. to "[protected]@gmail.com"
