I took a home loan of Rs. 7.34 lakhs from ICICI Bank in June 2004. My account number was LBDEL[protected]. I paid whole loan amount in May 2009. In July 2009, I requested the bank to return my original property documents, but when I visited the branch to collect the papers, they have only photocopies of documents.
Since then I have visited the branch many times, complained on their website and written many mails, but have not got my papers. Bank is unable to trace the papers. Now they are asking me to give the acknowledgement pertaining to the submission of original documents. I have told the name of the person who collected the papers from me (whose signature are there on the Home Loan Document and who visited me several times during processing and disbursement of loan). I have also told them that he did not give me any acknowledgement and I had also not insisted for it presuming that since I got loan and my property is mortgaged with the bank so it is known fact that my paper will be with bank.
I am not aware that to how many costumers bank/its representative i.e., lawyer/DMA or any other, provides acknowledgement for receiving documents. Moreover, if the bank did not have original documents , they never asked me for them during last five-six years. Now since they lost the papers, they want to put blame on me. Not having acknowledgement means, I have not submitted the papers to them. What a joke.
Could you please suggest what should I do. I have visited branch, spoken to costumer care on phone. Complaint on their web site at level 1, level 2 and now at level three also. Should I write to Banking ombudsment, go to consumer court or take legal action against them.
