I am a ICICI Bank customer and I operated ICICI Bank ATM on 10th August 2010 for Rs. 20,000.00 situated in our office. The machine wrongly dispensed Rs. 19,100.00.
I found that one note of Rs. 100 was inserted in between Rs. 1000 notes. Hence instead of 19 notes of 1000 Rs, I received 18 notes and instead of 10 notes of 100 Rs, I received 11 notes. In effect, I was 900 Rs short.
I immediately logged the call with their customer service, RBI Ombudsman and ICICI Bank official by email.
On 14th August, I received an email from their official stating that Rs. 900 difference is credited to my account and I was asked to verify whether true, which I confirmed immediately. This mail did not cite any reasons whatsoever and neither tendered any apology.
My grievance is :
This email did not contain any explanations or reasons whatsoever for this serious mistake. In fact, the more I think, the more I am convinced now that this is deliberate fraud from the people who load the cash in the ATM. Your bank should be frank enough to acknowledge else you will loose customer trust which is paramount in Banking industry.
Henceforth, how am I to trust the ICICI bank whether my banking with them is going to be safe and without any concerns? What steps they have taken to ensure that such serious thing does not repeat with me or with any customer in general.
This was not an isolated case and on that day, my colleague also faced the similar issue. Both o[censored]s got the credit of 900 Rs on 14th August but without any explanations / reasons.
Finally, you are requested to let me know the exact reason/s reg. above and also the steps taken to ensure that such thing will not happen in future.
