This is regarding the problem of men not vacating seats reserved for women.
I wonder if imposition of a decent fine(which should be leviable by the conductor) followed by frequent squad checks, help check this everyday concern. Nothing works like fear of monetary loss, these days. Gone are the days of chivalry. Now men only have rivalry towards their opposite sex. Anyway, I find that most conductors have an indifferent attitude on this issue, either out of fear or gender bias. Also, apart from the 'Magalir' sign, there should be a sign in the unreserved seating sections 'Podhu Idangal', as many men are suffering from the misconception that those seats are reserved for men. Often we come across guys arguing that they do not complain when women use "their seats" and so women must not complain when men sit in women's seats. Was this information helpful? |
