I just received the email and at first thought it might be legitimate, but, again, there is no such thing as a free lunch; we usually sow what we reap, ie, law of the harvest.

This has to be fraud if they require you to send money back to them to process a check. No reputable company would ask this if they are "giving away" "free" money; they should have already have had sufficient funds to process this or "have the insurance to cover it--" whatever that means. Since when do you have to purchase insurance from your bank to have your bank process wire transfers from your account anyway? They most likely are also fraudulently using the name of a legitimate company, and could probably be held liable for libel damages as well. This is just a better-orchestrated scam. If you send money to them overseas you have no legal recourse to reclaim it unless the UK has changed their laws. But again, I could be wrong.
it may be genuine
