[Resolved]  Shalimar — It does not make the AC work as it is supposed to do

Address: Kerala

Shalimar is a voltage stabilizer. It is advertised as "Wide range" and that it will make my 1.5 Ton AC work at night. Its voltage range is mentioned to be above 120 volts (which means the stabilizer should make the AC work if the line voltage is 120vots or above). Its a 4KVA stabilizer.

Now my line voltage when i try to switch on my AC is 180 volts....but as soon as the compressor starts functioning, the line voltage drops to around 12 volts or so and the stabilizer is cut-off . Only when the line voltage goes above 200 volts that the compressor gets switched on.

If we don't connect the AC and measure the output terminal of the stabilizer, it shows 230 volts. SO it seems that the stabilizer steps up only with no load.....But then what is the purpose of such a stabilizer?????
