[Resolved]  State Bank of India — Hidden Charges

I had got a statement last month (15 April 2008) stating that my total amount due is Rs. 25, 215.52 & the due date to pay is 4th May 2008, I had made the complete payment on 30th April 2008 for an amount of Rs. 25, 215.52.

I got my May 2008 statement stating an outstanding amount of Rs. 76.42 & when enquired at their customer care they convey me that this amount is the recurring interest amount for balance transfer carried on March 2007 & for With Drawl of amount in the same month. They also conveyed this is usally charged to all (this amount is for the interest for the amount from the billing date 15 April 2008 to 30th April 2008)

This is not fare in charging a customer with 3.1% on principle amount and the hidden re-occurring charges on amount with drawl & balance transfer.

I had later deposited the cheque for Rs. 76.42 on 28th May 2008, now they had sent me a letter stating that the cheque was not sent for clearence as the date was not mentioned. so we are charging a fine & the total outstanding is Rs. 726.42.

Receiving this letter i called the Call center and i asked if you had seen my cheque was missing with the date, you could have called me & let me know, i would have re-deposited a new cheque, she told me that this option is not available with us, you need to pay the fine else another 250 will be charged for non payment.

Request you to kindly help me in coming out of this problem.

for non Payment / Late Payment

Dear Sir,
I receive the Bill dated 23 Dec. 08 by courier Service only on 1.12.08 in the evening though it is dated 23.12.08 hence I find Your Courier Service is apparently Fast. Last Bill for November has not been received at all & therefore, I have come to the Conclusion that your Courier System is really very Efficient as whether the Letters are delivered or not, They any way get their delivery Charges while SBI also makes profit by Charging “Late Payment / No payment” hefty Charges in my case Rs 350+82.55 = 432.55 ie both Courier & SBI CC Division make good money for not delivering the Bills.
I had given subsequently a Cheque for even the Late Payment / No Payment charges to your representative who Visited my Residence cum Office (This is my own House, where I am leaving since more than 15 Years) with the Use’s Charges in December 08. But this Time, since Last 3/4 days, your Customer Care, Madras, was phoning continuously intimating that the given Cheque has Bounced back because of in sufficient Fund in the account. I therefore, request to send back the returned cheque as I had sufficient fund in my that account (exactly Rs 31, 527.03) & I was knowing that, as usual some wrong information, was being given to me (I don’t have Phone Conversation Recorder & hence I did not record such intimation).
Now some other explanation is being given & Your Representative visited me for the Payment & I have indicated to him following to settle this issue once for all-
1. Please give me back the Cheque returned Copy to take up this matter with my BANK OR send me the scanned copy so that I can also check your Customer Division statement of “Insufficient Fund” or Checking whether some work has been done by your representative who visited me for Cheque Collection by checking Cheque & giving me a proper Receipt.
2. Since I got fed up with SBI CC & in any case not using the same even though I am a frequent Traveler & make ½ Trips to Vishakhapatnam & Chennai per weak & use CC for the stay & other Expenses, I wanted this card to be cancelled giving a Letter by SBI that all the Payment received till date as I will make all the payment with Cash & I will return the CC card cancelling same & Undertaking to make the charges for its use subsequently.
I hope that I have made all the points clear & attaching herewith the relevant Documents for your necessary action & thinking you in advance.
Yours Faithfully,

Enclosures-
1 Copy of my Bank Statement to confirm I had sufficient Fund in my Account & the Cheque has not been returned due to same & ask your Representative how he received Cheque & Gave a proper Receipt.
2. Copy of your 23.12.08 Bill received charging for Late Payment even though that Bill not delivered to me or any one at my House.
