[Resolved]  Tortilla Roti Maker — after sales service

I have a similar complaint against the company Basic Associates based in Cambridge Layout, Bangalore. They sell roti makers of the brand Tortilla. I came across this roti maker at one of the consumer exhibition in Bangalore. The sales guy gave a convincing demo and said that they have just set up the demo there. They are not selling the products at the expo. Actually the products are so faulty that they wouldn't dare to sell them at the expo. They asked for a Rs 100 deposit saying that they will give a demo at my place and will sell it to me only if Im satisfied. They will refund the rs 100 if I dont intend to buy. I thought that was fair enough and came back home, expecting the sales guy to turn up at my house at 5 pm as specified in the receipt. Now I saw the product at the expo on a Friday and asked the sales guy to turn up at my place the next day on a Saturday. As expected I was waiting till 5 pm at my place and after no one turned up till 5:30 pm, I gave a call to the company phone number as well as to the cell phone number which was mentioned in the receipt.

I got all the shocks then when I called up to enquire. The people at the company seemed to be pathetic customer care people and quite idiotic. They didn't seem to understand what I was saying and as expected kept down the phone. I then called up at the cell phone number mentioned in my receipt and apparently the phone number was not of the sales guy but of some other person. This itself is the first sign of deceit since the sales guy should have been honest enough to write the correct cell phone number. Anyways we cant expect fraudsters to be honest!

I decided to go to the expo and take back my Rs 100 myself by showing the receipt since I had already lost faith in the company and its product. While I was midway I got a call from the company asking who I am, my bill number, etc. When I mentioned my bill number, they said the delivery date was mentioned as Sunday & not Saturday. Just imagine to what extent the sales guy have been asked to act like fraudsters! They wrote Saturday on my copy but wrote Sunday's date on their copy. Or the other option could be that the guy who called up from the company was lying blatantly! Thery probably wanted the expo to be over so that you cant tarnish their image at the expo. And then come to sell the product after the expo is over, dupe with rs 2000 and then vanish completely.

Not only that, the guy who called up from the company was extremely rude. I being an annoyed cheated customer or rather “would be customer” was obviously shouting at the guy, to which the guy tried to dominate and said “madam you first listen to me”. I mean just look at their audacity! He even had the audacity to say, “you have not given me Rs 1 lakh, you just gave Rs 100”. I replied back saying, “so what if I had paid Rs 100, its my money and not your money and I want it back”. Then I was so irritated that I hung up the phone.

I then decided to go back home because it is not worth it to go back all the way spending rs 200 on auto and then paying another rs 40 to get inside the expo, and then claim my rs 100 from these guys. I rather thought I will land up at the company, show the receipt and take my money back. I even searched the net and found innumerable complaints against Tortilla roti maker. They just sell the product, dupe people with Rs 2000 by selling a faulty waste product and then don't respond to your calls when you call up at the service centre.

The sales guy even lied to me at the expo saying that I can check their website www.basicassociates.com I checked on the net and there is absolutely no website of this name. The sales guy was also saying the website is so useful that I can even get complete repair instructions on the website. I mean where is the website in the first place! I even asked if they have service centres all across India to which he replied even if they don’t have service centres they can take the product by courier, repair it and then courier it back. Absolute lies!

I guess this company and its people are absolutely fake and full of fraudsters! Maybe that is also one reason why this counter was the last and far off counter at the expo. I checked with my local shop owners who said Tortilla roti maker brand is a total fraud and faulty brand. That is one reason for which they sell these products through direct marketing. Being fraudsters they don’t sell these products through regular shops and you will never find this product on a shop counter.

I guess I learned my lesson from this. One, that one must do a proper research before buying any electronic goods. See a product, do a research on the net, talk to people around to find out if there is any negative stuff being said about the product, be sure about the quality and most importantly service, and then buy. Second, never ever give even Rs 5 deposit for any electronic goods no matter what.

I still feel lucky that I didn’t have to buy it and waste my hard earned money on this. It was a narrow escape for me such that I didn’t shell out rs 2000 and had to let go only rs 100. However, I am not a person to give up fast and will definitely try to take back my rs 100 in whichever way possible. I feel sorry for others who bought it and have been suffering. But I really want someone to look into this. Please save all the hapless consumers from such fraud companies who dupe people repeatedly.

Why you are doing like this, really this product goal is good but your product is really waste than worst. Please get ready to worthful products not customer cheating products. All the customers are ready to pay money if the product is really good then why you are not going to utilize the customer positive and also why you are not getting ready to give proper supports also.

Be the best product not the worst product. Try to develop yourself.

I had booked for a demo by paying 100Rs. Now i after reading the review i have to plan to get the 100 Rs back. Based on the review the product stinks.

There is no service after sales, i contact many times to this mobile number ([protected]) but there is no satisfaction for me.

I had purchased a roti maker from Basic Associates pt.No. 07, Sweety complex, Phase 3, Ganga Nagar, Unit-6, Bhubaneswar, Orissa-751003 on 10/05/10, It became defective on 13.06.10, After several complains, the mechanic collected the same on 03.07.10 and assured that he would get it repaired on 04.07.10 . When it was sold they had the condition of guarantee for 12 months, but instead of replacing the same they are delaying for repairing .On telephone, service center is not replying properly.Customer care and services are very poor . In this connection I would like to advice every body not purchase roti maker of above brand.

i am here to say the service provided by tortilla is excellent in mangalore.I would really appreciate the sales team in mangalore.i had purchased tortila in 2007 may when it was new to mangalore. throughout the service was excellent recently last week i had some problem and the service was given to door and free of charge i personally appreciate it.

After reading all these comments, I am little bit suspicious about the future performance of my TORTILLA roti maker. I purchased the product from R city mall, Mumbai after carefully observing the demo. After one day use, the electrical connection of my home was tripped. Then I called the service person. He came and changed the product. After that it is working superbly. I really astonished by the performance of the product. It saved lot of efforts and time as well. Little bit training is necessary for using the product. Now I get roti while watching TV after long working hours in the office. The quality of roti is also very good. It is more smother, well cooked and softer than normal roti. I don’t know how long this unit will work. But definitely I will buy the second one if it works for another 6 months (3 months I have used). It saved lot of money also. I used to pay my maid servant Rs. 600/month for making 10 roti every day. Tortilla roti maker only cost around Rs 1700 which is almost three months salary of my maid servant.
In addition, the allo parotha prepared by this rooti maker is fantastic. I just tried and found many advantages over the normally cooked aloo parotha. Since in tortilla there is no need of spreading the flour separately, aloo inside will never come out. Also due to thick non stick coating, parotha can be made with lesser oil/butter and can be well cooked. So, I strongly recommend the product.

I had given Rs.100 advance on 11/10/2009 at Relience Fresh to Basic Associates, i had booked one 110v Tortila roti maker, they promised to deliver on 15/10/2009 to my house, but noboday came to my house, and i was to gift the roti maker to my sister who lives in Maine USA, but i was cheated and i was unable to gift to my sister has they are back to US, since then its over one year had gone, i had been repeadtly contacting them to refund my Rs, 100.

but there was a positive response from one company person with mobile no: ( [protected] ), but the agency is not responding i think, so, i want my advance money back as early as possible.

Very very bad after-sale service

I purchased Tortilla Roti Maker from Chennai and it was an amazing product and it was working for 2 months. But, suddenly, after two months, we observed that the coil was not getting heated properly. And, now its been 4 months and we are not able to use the roti maker at all. because of this issue. We contacted the sales and service M/s.Basic Associates at Alwarpet, Chennai through phone but no response.

This is very worst product. Never buy it. This is worst company. they just making fake money.
I bought it for 2300 Rs. So I don't want you to make same mistake I made.

It is a very good product...i am using it for more than a year now..first time one can face problem..but once the temperature is properly set by the demo person and after few trials one can make roti very easily and roti quality is also very good.

I have purchased roti makder in november, 2010 from big bazar, kothrod, pune by seeing demos. After 2 days representative came to my house and show the demo to make chapati and he also promised to show 4 more demos at free of cost at your residence place. After that i called him on given number but nobody is responding and now my roti maker is also not working. I have made several calls but they didn't respond. PLEASE PLEASE do not buy this product and waste your money.

Whoever is incharge of the scam in tortilla maker - Please do not rip people off.

Basic Associates, Tortilla — Tortilla Roti Maker is working great. Recommend buying it.

I bought Tortilla Rotimaker six months back. It is working great. It is really a useful product and saves you time during the rush morning hours or tired evening hours after you all return from office. It makes nice fluffy or crispy rotis in a jiffy.
I bet there is no other better product than this.
just two weeks back my rotimaker suddenly went phut one evening. I registered a complaint with the BASIC ASSOCIATES, the dealers and marketers of the product. Withing three days the company mechanic came replaced the fused power chord. This was done free of cost as my machine was in warranty period. In fact I offered him chai money as he had come a long way.

Basic Associates and Tortilla Rotimaker. Keep it up. Keep going strong!!!
