I am Mrs Lekha Fenn. I have been driving various cars for the past 35 years with no complaints and accidents.
For your kind Information,
On the 8th Feb I went to fill fuel at about 7:30pm to the bunk which is near a famous mall in Madurai Vishal De Mall.
After filling the fuel for Rs 500 I took the left turning which is near Indian Oil Corporation Apartments I heard a loud rattling sound and since it was on the main road I drove little further to park by then there was huge sound and heavy smoke all over the place and I stopped the engine but it did not stop. The sound was louder and I told my daughter to get down and I also got down. By then many people came all around as it was infront of a police station and a mariage hall. You can enquire anyone in the police station also regarding the smoke.
For a while the whole place was filled with heavy smoke where I could not see the car and even my daughter and I was screaming in tears as my daughter is not see but by the grace of God after 20 min the smoke stopped and I and my daughter who was hiding with tears went to check whether they have filled petrol but they checked through the cctv and confirmed that they filled diesel.
Since my dad is a doctor and is a handicap with an amputation of leg with diabetes I rushed home to feed him in an auto and I informed our acting driver to be there.
I also called the number which is written on the bag and My Vijayan was helpful and with 2 hours the car was dragged to the service place.
Since I had to go to Chennai that night at 10:30pm I left and returned the very next day 9th Feb (yesterday) at night . I was contacted by the mechanic asking me what happened and since I was in a meeting I couldn't talk to him much.
Today I talked and the mechanic said that he will find the real problem and will let me know by 3pm and since he did not call I called him at around 4pm and surprised to hear the mixing of diseal and oil and many more and the pump thing should be sent to Tirunelveli which they cannot do.He also said that the charge will be nearing 7 to 8 thousand and that too I have to take the set to Tirunelveli to fix.
Hearing the charge and taxing on me for I did not do anything with the car I demanded to talk to the manager Mr Vijayan who said will talk to the mechanic and call me back and he called and said the cost will be 10 to 12000 rs. I was asking him what my mistake was and also asked him whether any other verna car had the similar problem he said no... then why mine alone ??
I asked why cant he give me concession in the charge because it is the car functioning mistake and its been driven by a lady and not driven much also. Why cant the company atleast take 1/2 the charge of the expense when it is not the driver mistake?
My husband Dr Fenn told me not to buy the car in December but since I liked the car so much I fought with him and the seller also told that the rate will be increased next year I forced my husband to buy and because of that I lost guarantee also. The mechanic is telling if it is before 2 months we would have done for free. Have I ever dreamt that car would give me this big problem ??
My husband is a car meniac, he suggested that Hyundai is nothing great and I argued and I bought and was happily driving .
Now I am sacred to drive that car because I and my daughter would have not been alive if it was burnt with the mixing of oil, gas etc. I dont know how to explain the mechanism and functioning but the scar and scare of me driving is questioned.
My husband is working as a doctor abroad. I am taking care of my 2 children and my handicapped father. I need to commute and manage many things in a day to run my family.
I dont have particular complaints on anyone because the manger was helpful in the beginning but when it comes to money he is hard and demanding 10000 to 12000 .He also said if I cant pay let the car be stuck there. I never said I wont pay.I will, but not this huge amount because the car is not hit but something went wrong inside the mechanism which should be met by the company also.If it was my mistake I would have met all he expense.
If no actions are taken I am forwarding a copy of this letter to Korea also. Please consider the issue as the vehicle fault also not the customers alone.
Kindly look into the matter as early as possible as I need a vehicle for commute.
Now all my payments of dues and bills are stand still.
