[Resolved]  Indigo Airlines — Deprived free seat and forced to buy seat through web check-in

My concerns
I was informed that, due to covid situation, online (web checkin) has been mandatory. Following this rule, while I was attempting web check in on 07th July, I didn't have the option of choosing a free seat and print my boarding card. Infact, I was forced to pay INR 230 to select a seat before I could print my boarding card. As per the information from goindigo, if a passenger fails to web checkin, he will end up paying INR 200 at the airport to secure a boarding pass. Hence I had no choice
I would like to bring this to your kind attention that I had confirmed a ticket which allows me a free seat to the best of my understanding. I was deprived of my rights as a passenger to obtain a free seat while checking in through your website.
Hence, I would request you to review my situation and make arrangements to refund INR 230 which was paid through a personal debit card. At the same time, I would recommend to keep free seat options readily available on your website
I took this issue with indigo customer relations team with no concrete results. Please see the reply from indigo below
