I had booked indigo flights for my family to goa via mumbai through makemytrip on 21st june, 2017 for travel on 17th august, for indigo flight @ 10-25 am.
I had pre-booked (Two days prior) a taxi to take us from gandhinagar to ahmedabad airport at 9-00 am so that we would have reached @ 9-25 am approximately. The taxi driver arjunbhai called up at 8-45 am to inquire about the timing for travel to ahmedabad. I conveyed to him that he should turn up immediately so that we may undertake travel to the ahmedabad airport. He did not turn up at 9-00 am. Hence we started calling him to urgently to take us to the airport. He conveyed that the taxi had left to arrive at our residence to pick us up & drive to ahmedabad airport. However, till 9-10 am, taxi driver did not turn up. Hence we started looking for alternative of auto rixa to take us to the airport. We got auto rixa at 9-20 to take us to the airport.
We arrived at the ahmedabad airport at approximately 9-50 am. Immediately we proceeded to indigo counter to check in.
Lady at the counter took our printed ticket cum invoice issued by makemytrip on behalf of indigo and started to issue us the boarding passes. We deposited our check in luggage on the weighment scale. However, mr. Sangram (Identified later) who came in from behind and advised the lady not to issue the boarding passes as it was past time and counter closed. We requested and informed mr. Sangram and other officials about the reasons for delay due to taxi driver not turning up in time and to plead to allow us board the flight since there was sufficient time and we would miss the entire trip. Mr sangram was adamant and said that it was a case of "no show" and did not allow us to board the flight. At about 10-00 am he suggested that we take another direct indigo flight to goa at 13-05 pm on the same day. He sent some official with us to the indigo booking counter at the airport to book direct flight. We asked for the complaint to be booked for denial of the flight services to us and wanted to take picture of him/his employment tag, which he denied. However, he conveyed that his name was sangram.
At the indigo counter, the booking counter lady informed us that we could register the complaint at customer. [protected]@goindigo.in. She informed us that the flight charges for the direct goa flight would be inr 35568/-. The official who had accompanied us advised her that the amount of inr 10732/- for "no show" flight may be provided as deduction. Hence we were billed the difference of inr 24836/- at 10:08:58 on 17th august, 2017 for flight 6e161 to depart at 13:05 (Pm). Four seats were not together and were at different locations / positions. We had no other option but agree to make the payment through credit card for inr 24836/- to interglobe aviation ltd.
This indigo flight 6e161 which was to depart at 13:05 was delayed to 13:20 as informed vide sms at 11:48 am. At the boarding counter undersigned checked up with the indigo official who conveyed that if there were passengers, they would wait for the boarding and not close the boarding gate before 25 minutes. 6e161 was further delayed without any announcement or message and ultimately took off at 13:35 pm.
This seems to be a case of
1) predatory pricing (Inr 10732 vs inr 35568 i. E. 330% of original fees). Huge profiteering of 230% and more.
2) fraudulent transfer of the innocent tourists/ passengers from hopping flight from ahmedabad to goa to direct flight from ahmedabad to goa at the last minute
3) cheating and forcing the passengers accept additional flight fees. As we observe that direct flight booking was done at 10:08 am for 6e161 well before departure of 6e984 at 10:25 am.
4) delay on behalf of indigo from 13:05 to 13:35 for 6e161 is self-pardoned without any damages to interglobe aviation ltd. And reimbursement to passengers.
