Passport Office Mumbai — delay in police verification under tatkal

Address: Thane, Maharashtra, 401107

I had applied the application for renew my passport under tatkal and i got the passport very next day but status was post police verification. I did follow up police station 3 times asking to complete verification but they said we do in our on way and will take time.
I have applied under tatkal to complete the procedure fast but if it is the case how it worth.
There should be rule for police to complete verification in 3 days.

Please help as i have to go outside
