I have bought the gold bangle from Pothy and i had bad experience because of their false promises. I have explained the issue below
May 1, 2024:
As a gesture of love and appreciation for my mother, I visited Pothys Swarnamahal Chromepet branch to purchase a gold bangle. Excited about the purchase, I entered the store, already having a chit plan valued at 23.177 grams in the same branch.
Despite selecting a gold bangle weighing 32.100 grams with 12.99% Value Addition (VA). After bargaining, the VA was reduced to 11.00% and sales person provided the estimate. Despite this setback, I proceeded with the purchase, hoping for a smoother experience at the billing counter. But one of the sales executive insisted us saying, if we bought the same gold purchase on Atchaya Thiruthi (May 10, 2024), there is an offer on Rs.1500 per Sovergin additoinly with the current estimate which is 2% less in the VA. But we have to pay some additional amount for the purchase. The bill amount for the bangle is Rs.70000(seventy thousand) but they asked us to pay the RS.50000 (Fifty thousand) in advance. After confirming with floor manager on this, we proceeded on payment.
Issue 1:
At the billing counter, I was informed of a credit card offer providing a 2% instant cashback for purchases made that day(I already know this offer and i am planing to use this), applicable to HDFC Credit Card and ICICI Credit Card holders. Eager to avail of this benefit, I presented my HDFC Credit Card, only to be met with technical issues. Despite switching to my ICICI Credit Card, the promised discount was not applied. The explanation provided was vague and unsatisfactory. Billing person lethargically telling me my card is not eligible fo this transaction, but it was mentioned nowhere in the ad or the Pamphlet. This leaving me feeling frustrated and deceived.
Issue 2:
Fast forward to May 10, 2024, the auspicious occasion of Atchaya Thiruthi, meant to be a day of celebration, turned into a nightmare. Upon returning to the store, hoping to resolve previous issues, I was greeted by an overwhelming crowd. Despite the chaos, I approached the same place where I had selected the gold bangle, seeking clarification and reassessment. To my dismay, I was only offered a meager 1500 discount on 1 sovereign. After persistent negotiation with the floor manager, a marginal reduction of 2% was reluctantly applied to the current bill.(ATTACHED)
Issue 3:
The final blow came during a painfully long wait in the billing queue, enduring a three-hour(I took half day permission for this) ordeal. When it was finally my turn, the billing person began to dispute my estimate, leading to a heated argument. Matters escalated when the floor manager arbitrarily revoked the previously granted discount, followed by unjustified yelling directed at me. In the end, feeling defeated and emotionally drained, I reluctantly paid the full amount(ATTACHED), having traveled 30 kilometers, endured significant loss of time and opportunity, and suffered immeasurable mental anguish.
Total amount of the bill is for 32.100 gram * Rs.5655 (with VA 12.99)
But as I had chit,
Chit plan Amount is minus for 23.177 * 5695.30 (on average) = Rs.132000.00
Balance gram to paid = 32.100g - 23.177g = 8.923 g
As 12.99 VA converted as a gold = 1.159g
Total amount paid in gram = 8.923 + 1.159 = 10.080g * 6555 (as per gold gram rate on May 1, 2024 ) = Rs. 66088
GST for Rs. 66088 = Rs. 1982
GST for Chit amount 132000 = Rs. 3960

In the pursuit of justice and fairness, I humbly implore the honorable consumer court to grant me the compensation rightfully owed, thereby rectifying the injustices endured and restoring faith in the principles of consumer rights and accountability.
In conclusion, the false promises, unprofessional conduct, and blatant disregard for customer satisfaction displayed by Pothys Swarnamahal Chromepet branch have left me deeply disillusioned and emotionally scarred. This experience has not only robbed me of my hard-earned money but also my dignity and self-respect. As I seek justice and restitution, I implore the Consumer Court to heed my plea and hold the responsible parties accountable for their actions.
