I have been contacted by skoda service center and asked to replace fuel pressure pump, fuel filter and cleaning of common rail fuel system for a total cost of more than inr 110, 000. One of the fuel injectors is also to be replaced as per the recommendation. The complete cost of the repairs in the similar discussion were estimated at inr 175, 000 inclusive of labour and parts - the reason behind the check engine light and glow coil light indicator.
The reason has been quoted as the car missing any water separators and contaminated fuel. Reality cannot be far from truth - hundreds of skoda rapids all over nation suffering from contaminated fuel whereas the fuel from the same gas station being used in other cars belonging to our friends and family? The truth is that there is design fault in skoda rapid (As similar issues and complaints can be seen at the links below within just last 12 months. A thorough review can surely provide many more incidents with similar issue). The same mis-information is being quoted in all these instances by the company representatives:

The vin of my car also shows that there is a recall issue pertaining to ea189 emission update. There are many more reports that this leads to other issues in the car by their owners. This is nothing short of business malpractice on skoda india's behalf. The correlation between such high occurrence of fuel injector related issues suggests that most skoda rapids manufactured initially had injector issues for which the company has neither issued a service advisory, acknowledgement or recall notice. Most of these cases listed above occur between 2.5 to 5 years of car ownership with mileage between 27, 000 to 45, 000 kms.
The desirable resolution in this case is that skoda replaces the faulty part (S) at their cost.
Before skoda india customer care's standard auto response is included in the comments below asking for car registration number and contact details - please share skoda customer care email where this information can be shared instead of on a public forum that would be removed or marked private. I own a skoda rapid 1.6 TDI 2012 model, which recently developed pickup problem with a glow light. RPM doesnt go beyond 20. I checjed at Tafe skoda in Bangalore and they charged me 25000 and replaced fuel injector 3. after running 200 kms fine, the problem came back when I was 200 Kms away from bangalore. I had to drive 200 kms 8 hours at 40KMPH speed. now the Tafe service says its the fuel injector 4 this time and 2 or 1 might fail as well and it costs 1 lakh for total replacement. This is really crazy !!. I see its a common problem in the 2012 model 1.6 tdi engine and there is no RECALL from skoda.
