My LCD TV stopped working just after 1yr ... and the company refused to repair even after the fact that the shop had promised that the TV has a 7yr warranty.
The price of the crappy LCD TV was 30k INR.

I had bought a Akai Bravo LCD TV model # 32LW7 on 20-May-2008. And I had to
go to Helsinki for a business related long-term trip the very next day.
Hence I was not present at the time of installation of the LCD and also was
not able to mail the stamped warranty card back to Videocon. Surprisingly,
just after the 1-year warranty period was over, the lcd set started giving
problem - no picture although there was sound and I was able to change
channels etc. A service agent identifying himself as Mr. Biswajit Mukherjee
followed-up (on KL[protected] by paying two visits without any clue of the
root cause of the problem. Following his second visit, even the sound is
not working after a spark. On opening the back cover (to find the facts), I
found that the earth (ground) green cable was kept loose inside the power
board (PCB) which led to the electrical short-circuit (possibly in
temporary contact with transformer or capacitor output). Hence, I raised
another ticket # KL79A30066.
I have complaints against Videocon (Akai-India) on two counts :-
1> Why does a LCD TV has a display problem within 1.5 years of purchase ?
2> Can't we expect some level of professionalism from a service agent from
a renowned company like Videocon ?
