Air India Express — name correction

Booked flight from singapore to bangalore, for 15th apr.
For one of the passenger, the lastname has been given as an initial
Not complete name. I have requested airline to include expanded lastname instead of initial by sharing the required documents.

Airline customer care advised me to cancel and rebook bearing the cancellation charges.

Other airline (Booked for 11th apr) did this, with free of cost for my bangalore to singapore flight.

Each airline follow a different set of rules, but please note that neither airline website shows any info about name change policy/info nor travel agent website (Makemytrip)

And i believe there is a order from aviation department, there wont be any charges for name correction on airline tickets.

Spoken to customer care executive and asked to escalate this case and asked them to transfer the call to next level escalation. There is no outbound call facility is the reply. This is not at all acceptable, if customer care itself, doesn't know whom to escalate and how to escalate.
I don't see name change/correction policy on the website either. Most of the airline have these policies in place.

Booked Bangalore - Singapore for Apr11th on a different airline. it just took few hours to make the correction with free of cost.

I understand that each airline operates in a different way with a set of rules and regulations.
But, at least the basic policies should be similar for all the airlines.

As a general rule, the name of passenger of e-ticket must match the transcript given in passport.
If the passenger has submitted the claim for the correction within the agreed time, usually such period is within 24 hours,
(eticket and complaint are not seen),
the air carrier duty is to issue the eticket with correct name without charge.

As the eticket is not seen, the dispute can be contnued in court only.
