As i have lost my iphone xs max 256gb gold on 29/9/2019, police complaint was given on the same day, after 2 day i got sms from apple stating your mobile was found, click for location. So i called apple for assistance, and i was trying for nearly one hour, i was asked to wait for executive to answer and i was not able to talk with the apple executive, so i had clicked that link and it was directing me to icloud.com.
Since it is icloud.com i had trust in that site and i entered my userid and password, after entering, my lost phone got disabled from my apple account.
Next day again i called the apple customer care, that time i was discussing about the issue, they told me its a link used to get your information, then i asked i entered in icloud.com only, it is your own site with a lock symbol on the address bar means it is a secure site. He said hackers pre program a sign out link which will direct you to icloud.com only. So when it is easy to unlock your phone using a single link that too in apple site itself (Icloud.com), so where is security in it. We are getting apple for reason it is very secured. Apple knows there is a way to unlock your i phone when it is lost using a link, so why cant they educate the customer on that, as everyone will believe if its is coming in the name of apple and the link directs to icloud.com. If they already know, they should have educate the customer as bank does like dont share your otp. So many promotional mail i can see in my e mail, why cant they educate about the security glitch in your icloud.com. I entered my usedid and password in icloud.com so i feel it is there responsibility.
Another thing get a premium phone and i am not getting a proper support when it is need. If the customer care have picked the call and if they have guided me definitely i might have not entered the user id and password. The reason given by apple is the customer care executive were busy as they have lauched new product.
We are getting apple phone having a trust i ll get a proper support from apple but in my experience i had very bad experience on it.
I would request apple to provide me a new same model handset for not providing me proper assistance when it is really needed. Actually we are paying huge amount that includes service support also.
