Dear Forum,
On 13th Jan 2010, I withdrew some money from Axis Bank Dr A S Rao Nagar, Hyderabad, branch via a check. I was given 32 nos, Rs 1000 denomination notes and remaining in 500.
I deposited this money in an another bank against my loan. There they identified 1 Rs 1000 note as fake. When i took this note back to Axis Bank they just denied as being issued by them.
The cashier and the manager both just kept saying that every note they receive they scan if for fake, hence no way a fake note would be issued by them. The cashier also mentioned that earlier whenever he accepted fake notes by mistake, hed had to pay the bank from his pocket, and he paid 12000 as such. I ask the cashier, is it the reason that you have a problem from bank and now you are passing down the problem on to customer.
I told them again that i appreciate for all the processes you are following, and i said this note that i hold in my hand is from the same money that i received from the bank just 30mins back. It was like i am trying to prove i am not lying.
On this they became reluctant and said that is not their note, and ask me to do what ever i want to do.
The most surprising part was, leaving alone customer service respect, they said it is not our responsibility, you can go where ever you want to or go to RBI whereever...
I want to know :
1. Is this how Axis treats every customer.
2. Is a customer or the cashier responsible for fake notes.
3. For such reasons would'nt the customer try to distribute the fake note/s further, saving his/her loss.
4. Is customer or the bank criminal.
5. Does a customer or the cashier needs to undergo such emotional trauma.
6. Shouldnt the process be to collect all such notes however they happen to come, and try to stop further distribution.
Please help me on the above and what the next steps should be.

Personal — Complaint against a lien on salary account
I have a salary account since march 2008 with Gurgaon sector 56 Branch. As on 18th sep 2009 my account balance was 52,000 INR. i issued a cheque of 40,000 INR in favor of Sanjeev Dhiman, my elder brother who was in great need of money but the cheque got dishonoured on 24th sep 2009 due to insufficient funds. when i called ICICI bank i was told that there is a lien put on my account for 19,038 INR against a credit card that was issued to me by ICICI bank in the year 2006. this card was settled down on nov 15th 2008 for 6000 INR paid in favor of ICICI bank. according to the settlement letter (copy enclosed) that i have paid 6000 INR in two equal installments of 3000 each in Nov 2008 and Dec 2008. I also have the reciepts for the payments along with the settlement leter.Now ICICI bank says that they do not any information in their database of this Credit Card account being settled in Nov 2008 whereas the fact is that i have recieved a settlement letter in this regard form the bank which was personally recieved by me from the representative of the bank. Above all Bank do acknowledge the payments (reciept enclosed) made against this setlement in Nov 2008 and dec 2008 for 3000 INR each.
I am in touch with ICICI to sort out this discrepency at their end and also had writen to the senior officers in the head office in Mumbai. Have also sent the scannd copies of the payment reciepts and settlement letter on 19th sep 2009. However the matter is still pending and i am being harrassed by branch officials and not being allowed to withdraw my own money from the account.
Hence i am forced to take this step.
Kindly help me to get justice thru your good office.
