[Resolved]  DANA Group — Harassment of Indians by Indian Business House called DANA Group

Dear All

Please beware of DANA Group Nigeria owned by Ramesh Hathiramani and his sons Jacky Hathiramani.Both are having a criminal mind.They hire people from India giving a rosy picture of their Group in Nigiera and facilities they provide to their Indian Employees.But a person feel cheated immediately he lands at Lagos.They will take your passport in the name of immigration fromalities never to be returned back.Now you are at their mercy till the time they like.Indian Embassy also will not help as all Embassy people gets a heavy bribe from Hathiramani.All the expenses of High Commissioners parties are born by Hathis, hence all embassy people are toys in the hands of Hathis.

I have come back last month only, god really helped me as I have come back alive.Otherwise Dana is having a bad reputation all over Nigeria.They never makes payment of full and final.

I suggest all the aspirants of going abroad not to join Dana Group of Nigeria as they are thiefs and murderers, looting that country and harrassing poor Indians.

I have worked for Dana Group for many years and I totally disagree with your statements. They have people working with them since years. Some expatriates who have left the company for personal reasons have even rejoined the company. Why will anyone rejoin the Group if your statements are true and why will anyone stay long also?

The owners are well respected and are involved in many social service activities while the group is diversified and highly reputed in Nigeria.

I must further state that as a proud Indian I have great faith in my country's institutions. Dana Group has provided employment to many Indians. They have provided for their lifestyle in Nigeria and for schooling of their children.

Government of India should recognize their efforts and also consider their huge contribution to the economy of Nigeria by employment generation and investment in Industries.

Can anybody suggest if such things happen have any remedy if by approaching indian govt. ( foreign affairs / Immigration Dept.) in both terms ie, safe back to india & get hard earned money from such criminals as told by first complainant.
I fully agree most indian bosses in Nigeria are . They harrass their staff don't pay them on time. They take away passports of their employees, most Indians are underpaid. Infact Indians are the least paid expatriates in Nigeria. Even illeterate Lebanese are paid more than a graduate Indian by their bosses. Most Indian bosses are Sindhis who like to treat their staff like nothing but as a dirt. All this I am saying being myself a sindhi and after having stayed and worked for many years in Nigeria under sindhi bosses. I even had chance of working for Lebanese people and they pay a far better salaries to their expatriate staff and are not petty minded like these Indian Sindhi bosses. Infact my Lebanese boss told me also why you Indians descriminate so much amongst yourself. It is a well known fact among Expatriate community that Indians do not treat their employees well.
As a matter of fact this Dana boss does not even allow his expatriate staff to visit any temple or attend any public gathering as he his afraid his secrets would be leaked out. God knows what secrets he is afraid of. Expatriates working in this group are like slaves. I am sure he must be hiding in some hole like Gaddafi after his Dana Airlines has crashed. Anyways you pay for your deeds. There is one more dirty fellow Sunil Vaswani Stallion group he was another who had to run from Nigeria overnight. All these rascals are notorious for maltreating not only Indians but also Nigerians.
There is no element of truth in this complaint. The process of working on the visa documents is normal for ALL companies (Indian or otherwise) operating out of Nigeria.

For all i know, there are many people who want to go on emergency leave and return back after few months, all have gone back without any problems.

I strongly feel that the complaint is unnecessary harassment to the company. Kindly Remove and IGNORE.

This seems to me work of an Re-tarted, Jobless Jack. !!!

Greetings. My deep condolence for the Dana Air crash to the Nigerians as well as the Dana Airlines and the Dana Management.

I am an ex-employee of Dana Group and worked for more than 4 years in dana group. And currently working in UAE. The company (Dana Group) is an excellent company. The top management like the Chairman and the MD and their family are very good and some board of Directors too. And honestly, to me the Hathiramani family members are like the God. The company also gives a good job environment to its employees and off course in salary part also they are better compare to other Indian companies.

But the problem is the middle management. They are not giving the accurate picture to the top management ( to the chairman and to MDs). They involved in to make secure of their own chairs (own position), own employment promotions and own bank balance. They are doing such type funny and frustrated works in order to get appraisal by the top level. Because of this many experience expats were left them. Although every body has the pride to work with Dana group, because of these some middle management staffs they cant able to work. One among it is Mr. XXX ( i dont want to disclose any body's name), who holds the post of HR head now.

Regarding the passport keeping issue, all most all the companies in Nigeria keeps the original passport for the purpose of immigration. Although it is illegal in term of immigration law, but some how this practice is secure for either side. As the parent company gives to their expat staffs much responsibility and spends money in bulk for ticketing, visa and other immigration formalities and some on family status issues who are with their family. To my experience some Indian expats, who used to hold their passport earlier in past, left the country without intimation to the company, so the companies now keeping the passport in their own custody. And if any employee keeps the passport there are chance of loss as the there are still robbery cases going on in Nigeria frequently. And while going to India either on emergency ground or normal period the Dana group use to release their passport without any problem on genuine cases.

The real problem is keeping of original documents like your original credentials. After you join in any Nigerian company your credential needs to be verify once of the authentication of your highest degree educational certificate. But Dana middle management and HR dept are keeping it till you return ( until you complete your contracts in normal), where as the photocopy can only work after it verified once by the Nigerian government. They will tell you only at the time of issuing Ticket and STR visa while joining that your educational testimonies will be kept with them for stamping issues, which is a fake clause and illegal.

If you complete your full contract you can request them for the release of the certificate, now its the mercy of HR dept to release your original certificate.

But by chance you are not able to complete the contract by any means then no way you can get your original certificates, untill you will pay them with their any calculated money in any means what ever correct or wrong they calculates without any question mark. If you question them and or beg them for proper calculation you will be given threaten of legal. And no communication will be made.

To me i am lucky, that i have finished my contract and got another better opening in Dubai, hence i requested my credentials through my SGM to HR and got the certificates. Dana Group still keeps the original certificates of many of my friends (who were my ex-colloquies at Dana group) with no reason or of any un usual reason. The middle management has calculated a huge amount of Outstanding against their exit from Dana. To some, even they have not transferred Overseas salary for 3-4 months but in the exit calculation they are claiming for the same that they have been paid for the months. Because of this attitude of some of middle management employees many Indian ex employes of Dana still struggling and suffering for their carrier without the certificates.

If the top management can put sharp eye on this may be the middle management will act more practically in all the respect without making any eye catching works. Atleast some ex-employs and their family can survive and pray for the better growth of the company and its top management.

The company is very good towards its employees, some Indians expats are working more than 15 years. Many are living in Nigeria even with their family. Some of them re-joined Dana group and working very efficiently and enjoying the job at Dana group. Dana group is also socially involved for the betterment of Nigerians. And it has a good contribution to the nigerian economy.

Many Indians also improved their social and economic standard by working with Dana Group.

As this is an open thread, and all are free to share their own feeling. And as some of my friends are still suffering because of the certificate issue i felt to express my view.

DANA GROUP IS A BAD REPUTATION IN NIGERIA NOW, MANY EXPATS NOT GET SALARY FROM LAST ONE YEAR, AND TOP MANAGEMENT IS NOT READY TO PAY THE SALARY AND EMPLOYEES CAN NOT LEAVE THE ORGANISATION AS THE PASSPORT IS WITH HR DEPARTMENT AND 12 MONTH SALARY IS ALSO HOLD BY HR


ITS MY ADVICE TO NEW YOUTH - PLZ NEVER JOIN THIS COMPANY...ONLY DREAMS ARE THERE...JOIN STALLION OR OTHER GOOD GROUP...DANA IS BAD BAD AND BAD..LOT OF LOAN FROM BANK...UNABLE TO PAY LOANS...UNABLE TO PAY DEBTS. MY HUSBAND WAS WORKING WITH THIS COMPANY SINCE LAST 6 YEARS BUT NOW HE LEFT WITHOUT GETTING 1 YEAR SALARY.

Its true Dana group is fraud. Please do your research well otherwise you will be at huge monetary loss. They don't pay people on time for 6 months to 8 months overseas savings amount unpaid for many of its employees who are stuck because their money is blockked by the company and not paid. They have a of the first order called Satya Prakash singh who is their HR Head in Nigeria an illiterate fool who will not pay you salaries for over 6 to 8 months and trouble you with all means possibpossible whwhile you aare in Nigeria.
Yes really bad scene with the salaries delayed and all. Company in big doldrums and HR is big time . Satya prakash singh the so called HR VP is a metric failed pimp from some village in ugaadu who tries to act smmart by delaying salaries for 8 to 10 months.

Don't join this company if you get offoor unless you want to sufferr

Yes The HR Head Satya Prakash singh really molests staff and not pay salaries for 8 to 10 months. Everybody in trouble and stuck as 8 months salaries are in the hands of the company.

If you want to suffer then only join Dana.

Hello Friends

I agree with all the complaints that have been put up here. I am a present employee of Dana who has faced so much problem since the last 2 and helf year. I was doing small car cleening job in Gujarat before I joined Dana as CEO and when they offered me $ 6300 per month and asked to join with fancy designation of CEO my balls started bursting as with only 10th pass i was getting opportunety to work bahagaun ma. I was so heppy i cent express. I cane to nigeria and then i realised after joining Dana that i am worst than the halat of a pet dog. I have been made to do all dorm of thengs here and i don't get paid also for the last 10 months. Imagine you are called a CEO but treated hike a house dog and not getting paid. I was earning more cleening cars in gujarat than i do here cleaning the gandh of the group.

Now i wish i should have studied more beyond class 10 and stayed in gujarat instead of coming here to Dana group.

Please don't join Dana group or you will be stuck like me and that person in HR by the name of SPS which stands for suvar pura sutya is the worst here.

Don't ever take any offer from Dana group of Nigeria.

Proof that i am saying the truth is they will not give you anything with company stamp not even the offer letter or letter of intent. You will be stuck here like a dog like me.
