I am a doctor myself. Do not know about present status of Child Trust. But 5years back my brother had a premature baby . At that time the care was very good, and the baby born 4 months before due date is doing very well now. But it looks like most famous and good doctors have left Child Trust. To name a few, my mentors Dr Nammalwar, Shanmugasundaram, Baskar Raju, Sarala Rajajee, Prasad are best doctors in the field no longer at Child Trust. To me as a doctor, the physician treating my child is more important than the hospital. Now I would choose a different newborn unit after enquiries in the city.
Dear Sathya, Next delivery, choose DR UMA RAM at Seethapathy Hospital, very good doctor and hospital. But you may request her to avoid sending the baby to Child Trust Hospital and choose any NICU you want. We look to our obstetricians for guidance about treatment of baby, and they are duty-bound to study carefully and know which hospital and doctor to send the newborn baby to.
I was referred by Dr Subramaniam of Isabel Hospital for care of the premature baby to Kanchi Kamakoti Child Trust Hospital newborn neonatal unit NICU. I was very disappointed. When baby in my family was put on breathing machine for weak lungs, we were not informed. Suddenly, pharmacy gave a bill of nearly Rs 13000 to me. We were told that powerful injection called surfactant was used to make lungs grow. This was shocking as Doctors did not tell of this (despite our family being doctors relatives). Duty doctors kept telling contradictory things. Baby got infection due to lack of hygiene in hospital, We were not informed. Suddenly, pharmacy gave me bill for Rs 6000 and I bought meropenem and vancocin etc.I also found other parents having similar grievances. Dr Ganesh near my house at Triplicane, told me that other patients have told him this also, and that lack of supervision by new doctors not knowing language has caused chaos, decline in quality. He told me that if I had asked him before, he would referred to some other units like Sooriya Hospital or Mehta Hospital, where former HODs of Child Trust Hospital Dr Deepa Hariharan, Dr ShanmugaSundaram work.

i totally disagree with this, some of the ppl are sent of by the management coz these ppl got lot of money from the patients unofficially giving slips to patient.go and see in mehta hospital where these ppl are working now. your langoot also will be removed. still kkcth is best coz they have so many dedicated post graduates to take care even at fag end of the day. largest number in any private inst. dr ganesh in triplicane who works in stanley is a smoker and drunkard who got heart attack in 35 yrs. he harassess lady pgs in his hospital. his words shd be put in a basket. kkcth caters 200 patients at a time.all sick referals from as far as delhi. if not satisfied oe must take it to proper forum. i suspect one of the ousted cheater like dr deepa would ve posted this.
i would object all those who have complained.this is not fair.have some humanity before you write a complaint.we doctors here work very very verey very hard day and night without botheration of food and sleep just for the betterment o[censored]r babies.it gives lot of pain to read these accusations.jst put ur senses and think why ur babies are sent, because they are very sick and difficult to be treated and worried about the mortality.doctors refer here with good intentions that baby should get well.we here do our best more than 100% with all efforts.to be honest we are doing godswork.we here have the best doctors, kind sisters and the best equipments to save ur babies.we are here to recieve the sickest babies and take up the challenge to treat it n give u a good healthy baby.we take credit in treating the sickest babies.i dont want to be arrogant and adament complaining about other hospitals and doctors.we here have better work to save ur precious babies than to think how to spoil doctors name and hospitals name which other people are doing.we have knowledge, equipments, power and courage to be the best.believe us as ur were doing so.

Hi! I am extremely thankful for pointing out all the deficiencies. We will deifinately use this for improving care of babies in future. We are moved to read the plight of relatives of patients and fully sympathize with them.
1.MEDICINE PRESCRIPTIONS
I appeal to all relatives to please cross-check any prescription from pharmacy. If any foul play is suspected or any over prescription is suspected, please bring to my notice directly.I can promise that no baby has suffered or will suffer beacause of lack of medicines.Even we have ways to help non affordable families to cut down their pharmacy bills.
2.CASE OF Mr.SHREEDHAR 'S BABY
This baby was diagnosed to have complete intestinal obstruction.Baby was extremely premature and weight was very less.Later surgery done was successful.Baby was started on feeds but was tolerating very slowly and weight gain was not increasing fast.So we advised the family to continue treatmeant till good weight gain was achieved and if discharged prematurely baby could suffer. But the family thought the baby was recovered completely and expressed their desire to go home despite telling the risks involved.Atlast the family went home with the weak baby.Feeding was not establised at home.Baby was brought for follow with further weight loss, surprisingly baby was not accompnied by the mother.Importance of proper feeding was explained and sent.
What we were afraid of, actually happened at home.Baby became further weak and had aspiration of milk.Baby was brought back here again gasping and was blue in terminal condition. We revived the baby and put on ventilator support and treated with antibiotics.Initially baby responbed to the antibiotics well but worsened but this time we failed to revive the baby.
For saving two thousand rupees, the family ended up paying much more amount and a total failure.Throughtout both the admissions we gave the family alternative options to transfer the baby to government hospital.Their grief is acceptable. We are hoping the family to avoid this mishap in next pregnancy.I request the family to come and meet us for future pregnany.
Consumer online is a brilliant idea to ensure transperancy and accountability in medical field which is sadly lacking. We doctors must realize the nobleness of our profession, if we fall less than ideal please tell us and guide us.You are our life, if any problem please dont hesitate to inform me or any member of our team.

I agree with Dr.Rahul Yadav.Iam a regular visitor of Childs Trust Hospital for the last 15 years. My children and all my relatives' children are regular patients of Dr.Janani & Dr.Andal who have been there for many years. All o[censored]s are very happy with their treatment and we have not had any problems. In fact recently my niece's child was admitted under Dr.Rahul Yadav in the newborn ward.My niece was thoroughly impressed with the treatment, the care by the postgraduates, nurses and kind and encouraging words of Dr.Rahul Yadav. My advice for the readers of this forum is not to get carried away by the complaints of a few parents who have had a bad experience for whatever reason but to continue to take your children to this hospital as it is the only place where doctors dont over investigate or over treat your children.
we lost our first baby due to urea cycle disorder and we had genetic counselling. with tht we got confusion and worried ...after that we met Rahul yadav for counselling at Child Trust hospital. really he is a brilliant he diagnosed the issue very well. he was asking me all symptoms throughout my pregnancy i got confidence once we met him. he explained well about further actions..and tests to be taken for next pregnancy..and how a mother has to act and observe babies growth inside...i am very grateful to you Rahul.. thank u very much... :) now we are trying to conceive..we wil meet you Rahul..

Dear Varsha,
Very poor service in Kanchi Kamakoti Childs Trust Hospital. My 1 year old kid had severe throat infection and fever for more than 2 weeks. I took her to nearby hospitals but it still sustained. Many of my neighbours suggested Kanchi Kamakoti Childs Trust Hospital in Nungambakkam is the best one in chennai. So I went there on sunday. I was shocked to see the things happened there. I was asked to meet Dr.L.J in outpatient ward. The Doctor whom we met is an young guy aged less than 30years was flirting with another lady doctor of the same age group. He failed to listen to us and still continued to flirt and asked us irrelevent questions.I got frustrated and came back.
Doctors are considered as God. But nowadays fake doctors are found even in famous hospitals which really spoils the name and trust we have in them. People who are really not eligibal to be doctors obtain graduation by paying huge money and spoil the profession. Service minded people are totally vanished. I write this for peoples awareness.

Nycil Immanuel - Chennai.

I disagree with Mr.Nycil for commenting bad about doctors in KKCTH.You could have waited and met Dr.L.J whom you were supposed to meet.As I had mentioned in my earlier comment, I still feel it is the best place to take your child during emergencies.Just based on the behaviour of 1 doctor you cannot underestimate the quality of doctors there. As Iam a regular visitor of the hospital I know most of the doctors there and in my opinion they are good.
Very Very poor service in Kanchi Kamakoti Childs Trust Hospital. My 1.5 year old kid has gone through severe pain during initial IV injection, Nurse she tried nearly 6-7 time before my eyes and failed and i stopped her for doing this foolish task.
Then she asked another Nurse 5th floor and completed it. I never seen such a worst treatement in my life. Please beware of fresheres in that hospital.

Rajesh

I m very amused by satya narayana's comments.I would greatly like to know the family doctor who told him that no baby will have low sugar. Is he a doctor in the first place ? He ought to have his head examined ?
Mr. Rajesh if a nurse in a pediatric hospital had difficulty in securing an iv line, think of yourplight had it been a general hospital. Securing iv lines in a child is a difficult job and children do cry on being poked. Your entry is purely emotional and deserves no real merit
Mr Rajesh, I agree. Only parents know how hurting it is for child to be poked so many times. If 5th floor Nurse is better, why she did not start IV first? I also had a similar experience at Kanchi Kamakoti Childs Trust Hospital. We go to children's hospital so that our babies are not poked 6-7 times. And after all this, the hospital people are commenting that parents are emotional, their entry does not deserve merit! Also personal comments like family doctors should have head examined, they are drunkards etc seems absurd for a big hospital. My family doctor Dr Ramamurthy cures most problems my kids had with no injections or tests, due to his experience. Only when he was not well, I went elsewhere.
I agree with Sathya / Rajesh comments. My kids doc Dr J Vishwanath, a great child doctor, used to treat my kids mainly with kind words, and jokes. They always get better! I used to go to Child Trust before when Dr J Vishwanath was there, but now he admitted my child at Mehta Hospital, and treated well. When child had kidney problem, Dr Nammalwar treated the child in the most kind way ever, answering even my silliest questions.
Therefore, after Dr Ramamurthy, I recommend Dr J Vishwanath whom we saw long back, before moving to Adyar, and now again.
My colleagues newborn girl was admitted in Kanchi Kamakoti ChildTrust Hospital from 28.12.2009 for a condition called stridor. The baby kept coughing, not gaining weight, not taking feeds, and kept having difficult breaths. But the doctors did not cure the problem. They stayed for 23 days, and got discharged late in january as baby was shifted to operation theatre without informing them for ENT opinion and there was No improvement at all in 23 days, bill 60000 rupees. They said laryngeal cleft caused problem difficult to cure.
Afterwards when they went to other doctors, they said it was big mistake ECHO heart test was not done. Then we found baby had double aorta and baby got dramatically better after surgery; how come doctors there missed it.?
we friends from Scope Intl raised amount for the surgery. if 1st hospital stay had led to correct diagnosis of problem, money would have been saved. As we celebrate 1st birthday, we are happy that baby got discharged and went elsewhere.

Medical negligence(Operated with no anesthesia)
Hi, I am Sathya from chennai. I admitted my wife at Bharani Hospital, Saligramam, Chennai, on 12/03/09 for pregnancy cesarean operation. It was scheduled on 13/03/09 morning 7.30am as advised by our regular check-up doctor N.Mangaleswari (MD DGO). On 13/03/09, at 7.15am my wife was taken into the operation theatre. Earlier we requested the doctor not to give Spinal Anesthesia as she will not be able to walk soon after that. Doctor agreed for that. But in the operation theatre, she gave only very light oral anesthesia, but did not check with my wife whether she has become unconsious or not. They tied her two hands on both sides of the operation table. The oral anesthesia Mask was on her nose.
Now the Cruel Operation started. My wife felt all the pains right from scratching her stomach with the knife, opening the stomach by Doctor's hands, squeezing the womb and taking out the child, stitching the womb, then family planning operation, stitching there, then closing the stomach and stitching outside...She tried to wave her hands as she could not shout, one of the doctors has told that she was feeling the pain, but other doctors neglected his words and continued the operation. I donot what kind of Doctors they are. Also they were talking their personal issues while operating on my wife..
She came out of the operation theatre at around 8.30 with full conscious. This can only be possible if they had given insufficient anesthesia. I have heard that some people had gone to "COMA" stages also bcoz of this low anesthesia problems. My wife is struggling with pain even now also. We donot know with whom we should lodge the complaint. Hence sending it to you, thinking that some justice will come and some good things will happen to other people atleast.
The second one was the Paedeatrician Dr.Asokan told that our child was born with low sugar and has low pulse rate while crying. He directed the child alone to child trust hospital and he was kept there in ICU for 1 week. But while travelling to child trust itself, my child's sugar came to normal. I saw other people's kids who were being kept there for more than 15 days and a month also for silly reasons.
When i checked with my local peadeatrician nearby my home, he scolded me for having chosen these two hospitals. He also told that no child will be born with low sugar. Only for money purpose this has been done. Dr.Asokan is also a visiting doctor at Child trust as well as Bharani.
Pls. take up this complaint very strongly and pls. get me justice for this mis-behaviours by these money minded Doctors.
Rgds
