[Resolved]  KANCHI KAMAKOTI CHILD TRUST HOSPITAL NEONATAL WARD — Lack of good doctors

Kanchi Kamakoti Child Trust Hospital Neonatal Ward for Newborns (NICU) : Many leading doctors have left the department over a span of 4-5 years, at least 8 senior doctors / HODs left. So, now diagnosis, patient care, nature of treatment all are affected. My niece was there for 25 days in NICU and was misdiagnosed to have brainfever and urinary infection, and many strong antibiotics were given. Later we found it be dehydration fever. We also observed that many patients stayed for long in the NICU, but later got opinions from other hospitals like Soorya, Mehta, Ramachandra etc where diagnosis or treatment changed and babies got better. It is said that frequent change of senior doctors in NICU has affected care there. I was reminded of this when I read about how reputation of AIIMS has been affected by attrition there. It is sad that Child Trust neonatal ward, formerly a place of excellence is affected thus.

I found that the hospital is good, started with noble intention, based on recent visit. The founder satrted it to help poor children, and the cause makes it stand.

Doctors in neonatology, including Dr Rahul Yadav, etc are all to be praised as this is a difficult profession, and not rewarding. God bless them again as they work for sick kids. Prayers for such doctors to do well sincerely.
stupid doctors no students only duty there, so stupid students child hospital...
Don't endanger your kids lives with this hospital. My daughter was nearly killed due to overdose in this hospital and had fits and serious condition while doctor tried to hide the drug that caused the issue and tried to give out on an infection which is rare and negative. She was admitted to ICU and we heard similar incidents from parents who already had their children admitted . Almost everyone came for outpatient and during medication overdose admitted with severe conditions in ICU. After insisting too much about he drug doctor replied back in a threatening way and what can be done knowing the same. She had enlarged liver and spleen in the report . Don't ever visit this hospital and always don't trust money minded doctors with fame.
i agree that the defects in KKCTH newborn ICU are:

1. aggressiveness and a very strong urge and dedication are not there to save the baby, as duty doctors are managing 80% of the time, consultant is not even available on phone.

2. As a chest physicianelf mys, I found that the ventilator modes were outdated, so were many aspects of treatment, but the public do not know that the consultant is not using the most modern and effective concepts in treatment

3. When we go there, we think only it has latest equipment, but this is not the case. My second child was treated at Sooriya NICU, better ventilators, monitors etc, all duty doctors were assistant professors, post MD. My niece was treated at Apollo, also well equipped, though less experience of doctors there, trainees were worse..

4. I found survival for very sick infants high at Sooriya, as consultant Dr Deepa Hariharan involvement was 200%, she was very knowledgeable, knew the tricks of trade to bring baby out of extreme crisis, was always supervising care directly, on phone or camera, and was more intelligent and qualified.

5. Nursing was pathetic in KKCTh, better at Sooriya, very good at Apollo.

6. hospitalwise, except for NICU, SooriyaHospital just okay, but doctors I think matter more than hospital, especailly if equipment, infrastrcuture in the particulalar dept are very good, as it is due to chief.
