[Resolved]  HDFC Bank Bank Credit Card — Letter regarding outstanding dues 7 years after closure of credit card account

I received a letter dated April 2016 recently from HDFC Credit card department mentioning about my inability to pay sum of Rs ~9000 and upcoming legal action for the same. The letter did not carry full credit card number for me to follow up.

I had closed by account, last interaction was on Dec 31 2009, last payment was Rs 2000 from my side, to the satisfaction of the bank.

There has been no communication since in last 7 years, except for this surprise letter I received few weeks back.

I tried calling numbers listed and since the letter did not have credit card number details, the details had to be obtained based on my cell phone number ([protected]) and a complaint case was filed by me as L2 Grievance (Case Number [protected]). The person taking complaint agreed that there has been no interaction with me in last 7 years and that last payment from me was on Dec 31 2009 for Rs 2000. The person mentioned the bank may not have closed the card account, hence such letter,

Can you kindly stop playing such pranks with your customers? My experience with HDFC has been utmost unsatisfactory and I have not dealt with this bank for last 7 years. Kindly conclude this case and apologise for such blunders.

NWD DECCHG charges were deducted from my salary account twice even though I did not use my atm card then. Also the charges are way too high. Please give a detailed explanation for the same.
