I have been trying to resolve an issue with my IRCTC account which is registered and linked to my personal email ID [[protected]@gmail.com]. Whenever I try to login it asks me to verify my phone number but the number displayed is a random number that is not mine. In fact, when I tried to contact the person to whom the number belongs, I realized that the mobile number is not even in service anymore. Then, when I try to link my Airtel prepaid mobile number [[protected]] to my account it says that my number is linked to another account.
I emailed the IRCTC customer care on 8th July 2024 to request them to link my prepaid number to my IRCTC account and deactivate the other account to which my mobile number is linked so that I could use the IRCTC website to book tickets. They asked me to furnish proof that the mobile number is mine and Airtel told me to send the IRCTC screenshots of my Airtel thanks app and a recharge done through the app as proof. I did as instructed but the IRCTC keep saying: "Kindly note that your given proof is not valid because telecom service provider name not mentioned." This is despite the fact that the Airtel logo is visible, the name Airtel is repeated multiple times in the screenshots and the menu clearly shows my name (Roshini Roy Festus), my email ID ([protected]@gmail.com) and my prepaid mobile number ([protected]).
Each time the IRCTC replies to my issue they assign me a different ticket ID although the issue is the same and it still hasn't been resolved.

I am so frustrated with their quality of customer service and their inability to resolve such a simple issue. Please help me, all I want to do is use my IRCTC account to book my own tickets without having to resort to asking friends and family to book tickets for me as it is a nuisance to them.
