** Salary of RM1800-RM3000 during training and more after 6-8 months project. You won't get paid any basic salary

** Usually under the title of "Management Trainee" or "Executive Development Program". Your title is SALES PERSONNEL

** These are the same lines all Cobra Group companies use:

-- "Fresh graduates who are willing to be coached from A to Z of a company operation and hardworking- please try your luck!" Coached - Reading from same piece of paper, memorize it and tell strangers about it

-- "Promotion to Managerial positions with Regional and Overseas Career Expansion". Something like Amway's incentive tours to overseas IF you con enough people

-- "The person who think that they possess all the skills required to be a successful future manager". When they expand, they chuck you there to further con people and you will have no time for your personal life AT ALL

-- "No min working experience is required (Special on-the-job training will be provided)". They train you to talk to strangers and be beggars

** On your first day of your you will be briefed on company structure. Any AMWAY members will know this is the exact promotion structure Amway uses the moment they see it. Sales projection, get 3 leaders you become Team Leader blablabla.

** On your second day, just quit the job.

** You'll get a piece of paper on dialogues and you are expected to preach to strangers. I don't think we graduated to be beggars.

Interview

** First interview will be in group interview (suspicious?)

** Second interview you will follow your "evaluator" to the field, usually in front of banks and see what they do. They will tell you "This is to test how much do you want the job" and then ask you to do the same thing: Begging & Bugging

** Third interview will be on the same day of the 2nd. You will be asked to go back by yourself to the company. WTF right?


What they slipped

** One guy used the word "downline" and "upline"

** The boss comes into the office EARLIER than everyone and leave LATER than everyone, even his secretary. Somemore he dare to use the word "TIME FREEDOM" and then say he sleep at 10.30PM.

** The structure chart. Some people who never join Amway will not see it coming because the only direct sales company to use it is Amway, and Cobra Group is applying the same thing.

** No basic pay. Tell me, which PROFESSIONAL job (as they claim) doesn't pay their employees? Like that I also wanna be the boss lar.

If you have more info of this company or companies under Cobra Group / DS-Max, add it here as they seem to be running rampant all over Jobstreet, conning degree holders from Law to Engineering fresh grads. Sadly, these people think they are doing a great job, where in fact they are earning money and being brainwashed day in day out.

One of the most common complaints about DS-Max affiliated companies is in their recruiting and advertising practices. Often the position is advertised as an "entry level management position", and claims to operate in any number of glamorous, competitive, high profile, industries ranging from pro sports and entertainment to 4 star restaurants and world travel, when in reality the position is that of a door-to-door salesperson who peddles pizza coupons, discount baseball tickets, 5 dollar umbrellas, designer knock-off hand bags, and travel alarm clocks, none of which the applicant will actually discover until they are out "in the field" with a distributor on their "second interview".

A common interviewing formula used by the independent sales offices consists of:

1. A very short first round interview conducted in the office of the manager. Typically in this interview the manager will briefly outline the structure of the business to the potential new distributor. A typical DS-Max manager will interview anywhere from 10 to 30 people a day so this first interview is usually short on detail and any prolonged question and answer sessions are avoided if possible.

2. A full day "second interview" in the sales field where the potential distributor shadows a current distributor while they attempt to sell their products or services door-to-door. This full day interview is an attempt to show the potential distributor how a typical day in the field works. This full day interview, like the first interview is purposefully vague on details and most questions are not answered fully or more difficult questions get passed on to the manager/owner to handle during the final interview. This is known within DS-MAX circles as the "Day of Observation" or the "Day of O".

3. A "final interview" takes place in the manager's office when the potential distributor returns after a full day in the field. If the applicant has any problems or objections, the manager may attempt to overturn them. If the potential distributor needs some clarification in order to understand the "big picture" of this business opportunity the manager will attempt to explain the business beyond just selling products door-to-door. The goal of every manager is to encourage the interviewee to start full time the very next day.

The name DS-Max is often used to refer to the whole distribution system that includes DS-Max USA Inc., its affiliated suppliers and independent offices. Each affiliated sales office is an independent and incorporated business.

This legal separation between the DS-Max supplying organizations and each individual office insulates DS-Max from any legal or financial liability should something happen within an individual office.

Because all sales offices are independently owned and operated each individual distributor and manager/owner reaps the rewards of and is both financially and legally responsible for his own business. The majority of all distributors work as independent contractors and thus are not paid a salary, receive no health benefits and are responsible for paying their own taxes.

The DS-Max system runs similarly to network marketing businesses but with several key differences:

1) Sales representatives (distributors) generally work full-time (often six days, 60 hours or more a week), relying on their sales for their primary source of income, rather than a slow transition from part-time to full-time.

2) The individual owner assumes the cost and advertises for new distributors and finds a mentor for them, rather than the distributor absorbing the cost of recruiting.

3) Distributors receive the products on consignment rather than paying for them up front and there is no fee for becoming a distributor.

The business only grows when new distributors are added. While DS-Max as a whole has grown quite large through the years, the vast majority of distributors and managers in affiliated distribution operations in the DS-Max system have not enjoyed success. In the 20 plus years of operation the Ds-max business model has generated some tremendous success for a small group of Vice-Presidents, or as they are referred to now, National Consultants, but the question of how many have found success in Ds-max compared to the number who have attempted to achieve success can only be answered by analyzing accurate, detailed records of these organizations and their affiliates. However the nature of their operations make it unlikely that such documentation exists.

I being con before. DS-Max. Their lousy plan is you start as trainee -> Leader -> team leader -> assistant manager -> manager. From trainee to become leader, you need to hit weekly target. Then, as leader you can start con others to be your downlines. Once you have 5 downlines promote to team leader. As team leader, you will be entitle to suck some commision from your downlines (5%) of the daily total sales.

Assistant manager is 10%. What really make money is when you become manager. DS-max is selling many thing but whatever they are selling, you earn RM 2-3 each item they sell. Mostly the manager earn RM 1000 ++ daily

FYI, manager really earn that much. Believe it. That why they are growing. The main issue is how you can become the manager. You need at least 13 - 15 downlines. Now that the hardest part. My ex uplines have been working for more than 5 years. He has been promoted as Manager before but de promoted when your men leave the team. So from there, he keep on struggling until today. Still same not making money.

The system seem great but no guarantee. People don't like walking around selling thing. So is hard to get people. My advise is you can treat it as temporary job while hunting others. My experiencee in the company was great. We penetrate a high security building e.g military kem, Maybank and many more. Chase up by the security. Sometimes the inside people may help you also. Is a fun job but making money.

Chase up by the security <---- this will sharpen your skill in sales and to be alert on outcome of your action. It is hard to penetrate military camp... if you could... you might have talent in sales..

Please do not upsell DS-Max here, this is exactly how they psycho people into these jobs. For example, FYI this and that manager really made 1k daily etc and etc, but that is just him, you have to be really good to be like that... blah blah blah,

MOST POSITIVE COMMENT, THIS IS NOT MINE, I AM JUST PASTING IT HERE...I think we are matured enough to understand that we should respect each other at least as a human being. Please stop using foul languages and start to argue in a constructive way. My intention is to help the youngsters and I am sure yours too is the same. Read my views below and then say if there is still something you don't understand about Cobra Group

I was working in Cobra group way back in 2002 for a period of 10 months. My experience is as below.

The way the company operates in India is the way it works worldwide. The five steps and eight steps in the company teaches you how to make a sale. On the field not every person you meet will buy the product you sell. It is your personality and the way you approach gets a sale for you and foremost the law of averages works there the best. The more number of people you meet the more number of sales you make.

I acquired the art of selling in Cobra Group which I am proud to say today. I gained the confidence to meet anyone that I come across as I use to meet 60 to 70 people a day as most of you quoted included small time guys to big shots in south and north India. And for the information to all who talk bad about Cobra Group I would like to let you know that I am currently working for HCL as an Assistant Manager in charge of Operations.I am from Thoraipakkam branch. Cobra group played a vital role in my career. Those 10 months at cobra exposed me to the best of the things that management schools teach. Now I am one of the youngest guy to be an Assistant Manager in HCL BPO. I am not an MBA from any reputed university.

It is again the perception of each person. For example every single person over here would have come across a LIC Agent in your life at least once. What do you think they do? They sell policies and get commissions on the premiums you make. So do you think the nations biggest insurance company is a fraud company because they don't pay basic salary to their agents. Guys please think before you write here. Also when someone donate for the charity organization through cobra it is true that a part goes to cobra which is considered to be in Charity organization's balance sheet as Advertising expenses. How many of you go and donate to Cry on a yearly basis. How many of you respond to the fliers by yourself and drop a cheque. Most of the fliers go to bin. Instead these organization go to COBRA group to create awareness and uses the advertising material only if a contribution is made which in turn saves money. So guys please think. In everything you do there is something to learn. Dont jump to conclusions. Most of the BE's and MBA's get lined up to COBRA because they don't get a job else where and try to show their smartness in these websites.

Not everyone is born to run a business. I am one of them who could not sustain in the business and run my company. Still my aspiration is to run a business of my own and if I succeed I definitely would say that it is because of the experience I gained in COBRA group.

And lastly do you think corporates do not have liars and cheaters. My dear freshers corporates have got Liars, molesters and too. so are you not going to work anywhere then??? So the destiny is in your hands.

I gave my best shot those 10 months and couldn't come through so left the organisation. So try if you can if not look for something else and keep going.

In my opinion COBRA is not for everyone it is only for the ones who want to run their own business.

I would like to thank few of the guys in COBRA whose leadership styles still I follow and admire. Kishore Tarachandani. Dinesh Mishra and lastly but not the least Tony Fernandez.

I went for induction in The Velocity Group, Pune.
The programme was inducted by Mr. Amit Baid. He claimed that the company is the world's largest direct sales company.He is paid 3lac per month.
Following were the points which he mentioned.
* the companies VELOCITY, TANGENT, COSSACKS are the leaflet companies of APPCO Group, which he claimed to be a UK based company.
* company is in finance, retail, insurance, NGO, entertainment etc. sectors.
* its the world's largest
* salary would be around 12 k to 40 k pm during training.
* first 2-4 months will be on field training. which covers the marketing & sales training.
* next 2-3 months is HR
* next 2 months is accounts.
* last is 1 month administration.
* after that the candidate becomes a Business Development Manager(BDM).
* looking at their office at 2nd floor, Deep Bunglow Chowk, MOdel Colony, Above Chauras Restaurant, Shivaji nagar Pune, no one can even think that its a big company.
* Initially it looked like a network marketing company justlike AMWAY, E-BIZZ, HERBALIFE. But, turned out to be totally different.
* I have searched over the internet and couldn't find any praising comments about the company. Plus as the comments say, it seems fraud.



* its a ind request from my side to mail me if anyone has any information about this firm.

I would advise u to not join Amit Baid's Velocity. Falsehood won't survive for long...When Amit's guys would start leaving him one by one, he would be seen no where and then you would thank your conscience for not being a part of this sinking ship. U will definitely find better opportunities...

Im sure You must have grown n an orphanage or something coz dats wat ur post suggests.
Moving on from your up-bringing, letz talk bout dat soccer reference uv mentioned.
Im not sure who you are under or who ur trainer is, but very sure dat none of them were even close to the amount of sales and recruitment I brought to the buisness. So you are just a kid n d buisness right now to explain the buisness module specially to me. Nd the RJ uv written can only impress the unimployed freshers clueless bout ur visious plans. Uv mentioned so many stats but forgot to mention a small fact, ie there is no salary involved with the buisness but it is completely commission based, and the 12 K - 40 K bracket is met by just 5% of the employees. Wat bout the rest 95 % who make bout 1k - 3K per month, roaming in dat scroching heat.

If you would have brains you would have realised that people like penguin, ozone or me do not have anything against the typecast buisness module that you use ( which is also copied from Amway), the 8 steps or 5 rules. All of them work for sure because they are practised from ages, but wat we are dissopointed is the level of transparency involved with the buisness.

Nyways uv showd ur standerds again by dat abusive post.. Keep up d good work..

And he is earning more that what your whole Velocity earns... hehe... :)

We left Cobra Group as we ourselves saw malpractices being followed...Then a thought dawned...when the foundation of the company itself is based on sheer lies, what would be end-result like?

Cobra Group is in India since 1999, right? Then It should have crossed employee strength of 1, 00, 000...with this expansion rate...But nothing of that sort has happened...Due to the vital fact that everyday, 2 people join and 4 leave...

And, by the way, we r not revealing our actual names as we do not want our sisters/elderly females to bear your bad words...as we cannot stoop low to such an extent that we drag our respected elders in our fight for truth...We have been taught right from childhood that women should be looked upon with respect; and not auctioned in the market as u people do through ur comments and Amit Baid does through his behaviour.

And let me tell you My Friend that I used to make around 40k to 45k very easily when I was working there. But we guys never revealed that.. So Don't Consider your self at the Top of the Food Chain.. There is long way for you to reach to our level.
and earning 28k-30k a month is not a big deal now a days, even a 16year old guy working in a call center must be earning more than what u earn there.
So stop giving that Salary over here...

Heartiest Congrats on using the word '[censored]#039; repeatedly...This is the only communication skill taught at Cobra...I am not answerable to u...So, I need not tell u how much money I used to make at Cobra...Yeah, but would definitely like to bring a thing to ur notice that after I left Cobra, my BDM's team got shattered and the team members left all at once...!!! So much so that the BDM himself was termed as a loser and had to leave as he couldn't bear the pressure...Had I still continued with ur alma mater, i.e. Cobra Group, I would have ended up being with the tail-enders...who would have just earned money but with 0% quality.

I lead a much better life now...with double o[censored]r salary...and mind u...I am looked upon as an asset to my present organization...

Me, Ozone, Rattle Snake- all r happy to state that we had left Cobra Group...It did not have guts to kick us out...MY BDM used to figure in bulletin due to my sales...Even Sai knows about it...

And u r talking about picthing in scorching heat...Let me tell u that I used to pitch till 11:30 p.m. as well to hit the goals...My goals used to be hit by evening...But I used to do it only to get my BDM figure in Bulletin...I have revealed the name of BDM in my previous posts..u can check it out...Also, the place I stay is devoid of electricity and water...That's why, I am used to hardships...U better do not tell me about that..

Just wait for some time...After u get fully exposed in front of the public by blurting out this crap, we will reveal our names...

And a bad news for u...Some of my friends r aware of my identity in this blog...They had also called me up regarding joining Cobra Group...that too, under Amit Baid...and I flatly refused...They were 4 in number...I will keep on doing such sort of social service in future...

U r talking about putting ur parent's money in to good deeds...Then, listen to this...

I was born in a family having hand-to-mouth situation...I have studied all through my life on scholarships...I secured a merit seat for Engg. as I had secured 92% in my 12th...I had to travel 4 hours to and fro (to my college) as I couldn't afford a hostel/PG accommodation...Still, I could clear my engg. with flying colours...I was never interested in software...so did not appear for campus interviews...

I always wanted something which could enhance my creativity and technical knowledge...I entered Cobra Group as I felt that I would carry out sales job with creative pitches...and FYI...I never practised the crappy pitch taught at Cobra Group...And I could made bumper sales...but got to know the loopholes and had to quit...Thereafter, I got placed in my present profession..and with God's grace, I am minting money now...as creativity and technical knowledge are welcomed in full fervour...

Also listen to this...I had obtained graduation in performing arts at the age of 14, i.e. a year before my 10th.

How many people r u not going to give a 's**t' if everyone prohibits new people from joining ur friend, philosopher, and guide-Amit Baid? A day will come when u will have nobody to walk in to ur office...Keep on staring at the walls then...

U keep on yelling to people that they should not pay attention to our posts...but people r not fools...They very well understand who is what...When they would come across ur post, they would realize that the person who does not hold elders in high esteem cannot even present himself well in front of donors as well...

I presume dat ur no one but one of the bdm herself who doesnt have a candidate 2 interview 2dy I guess.. Nd ur linguistic inability draws a close resembalance to one of them..In amits words "Did U Understood.."

Ur frustation shows from ur posts dude.. Nd the paradox is we who have issues wid ur organization have never once gone nasty wid words nd U, a representative of cobra do not know ny other way, apart from ur abusives...

Nd u say dat uv seen 3 promotions in the last year. Are u giving a figure of the whole organization or just ur velocity office..Coz I know velocity nd its people more then u can possibly dream nd I can give u in writing there has been not a single promotion in d last year.

Get this pretty straight.. We during our cobra days have high rolled indivisually that ur entire team cannot match.. 4 recruitment in 10 months.. ur pathetic dude..dat was my score after 6 weeks n d buisness.. Wid this rate you would also become an owner in the next dianosour age...

One last piece of info.. We left cobra not out of chance but out of choice.. Amit persuaded like a dog to keep us in, but he can only retain wastes like u, who does not have ny other place in market apart from velocity.. Not quality indivisuals like us...
