Their tactics & The Truth

** Salary of RM1800-RM3000 during training and more after 6-8 months project. You won't get paid any basic salary

** Usually under the title of "Management Trainee" or "Executive Development Program". Your title is SALES PERSONNEL

** These are the same lines all Cobra Group companies use:

-- "Fresh graduates who are willing to be coached from A to Z of a company operation and hardworking- please try your luck!" Coached - Reading from same piece of paper, memorize it and tell strangers about it

-- "Promotion to Managerial positions with Regional and Overseas Career Expansion". Something like Amway's incentive tours to overseas IF you con enough people

-- "The person who think that they possess all the skills required to be a successful future manager". When they expand, they chuck you there to further con people and you will have no time for your personal life AT ALL

-- "No min working experience is required (Special on-the-job training will be provided)". They train you to talk to strangers and be beggars

** On your first day of your you will be briefed on company structure. Any AMWAY members will know this is the exact promotion structure Amway uses the moment they see it. Sales projection, get 3 leaders you become Team Leader blablabla.

** On your second day, just quit the job.

** You'll get a piece of paper on dialogues and you are expected to preach to strangers. I don't think we graduated to be beggars.

Interview

** First interview will be in group interview (suspicious?)

** Second interview you will follow your "evaluator" to the field, usually in front of banks and see what they do. They will tell you "This is to test how much do you want the job" and then ask you to do the same thing: Begging & Bugging

** Third interview will be on the same day of the 2nd. You will be asked to go back by yourself to the company. WTF right?


What they slipped

** One guy used the word "downline" and "upline"

** The boss comes into the office EARLIER than everyone and leave LATER than everyone, even his secretary. Somemore he dare to use the word "TIME FREEDOM" and then say he sleep at 10.30PM.

** The structure chart. Some people who never join Amway will not see it coming because the only direct sales company to use it is Amway, and Cobra Group is applying the same thing.

** No basic pay. Tell me, which PROFESSIONAL job (as they claim) doesn't pay their employees? Like that I also wanna be the boss lar.

If you have more info of this company or companies under Cobra Group / DS-Max, add it here as they seem to be running rampant all over Jobstreet, conning degree holders from Law to Engineering fresh grads. Sadly, these people think they are doing a great job, where in fact they are earning money and being brainwashed day in day out.

One of the most common complaints about DS-Max affiliated companies is in their recruiting and advertising practices. Often the position is advertised as an "entry level management position", and claims to operate in any number of glamorous, competitive, high profile, industries ranging from pro sports and entertainment to 4 star restaurants and world travel, when in reality the position is that of a door-to-door salesperson who peddles pizza coupons, discount baseball tickets, 5 dollar umbrellas, designer knock-off hand bags, and travel alarm clocks, none of which the applicant will actually discover until they are out "in the field" with a distributor on their "second interview".

A common interviewing formula used by the independent sales offices consists of:

1. A very short first round interview conducted in the office of the manager. Typically in this interview the manager will briefly outline the structure of the business to the potential new distributor. A typical DS-Max manager will interview anywhere from 10 to 30 people a day so this first interview is usually short on detail and any prolonged question and answer sessions are avoided if possible.

2. A full day "second interview" in the sales field where the potential distributor shadows a current distributor while they attempt to sell their products or services door-to-door. This full day interview is an attempt to show the potential distributor how a typical day in the field works. This full day interview, like the first interview is purposefully vague on details and most questions are not answered fully or more difficult questions get passed on to the manager/owner to handle during the final interview. This is known within DS-MAX circles as the "Day of Observation" or the "Day of O".

3. A "final interview" takes place in the manager's office when the potential distributor returns after a full day in the field. If the applicant has any problems or objections, the manager may attempt to overturn them. If the potential distributor needs some clarification in order to understand the "big picture" of this business opportunity the manager will attempt to explain the business beyond just selling products door-to-door. The goal of every manager is to encourage the interviewee to start full time the very next day.

The name DS-Max is often used to refer to the whole distribution system that includes DS-Max USA Inc., its affiliated suppliers and independent offices. Each affiliated sales office is an independent and incorporated business.

This legal separation between the DS-Max supplying organizations and each individual office insulates DS-Max from any legal or financial liability should something happen within an individual office.

Because all sales offices are independently owned and operated each individual distributor and manager/owner reaps the rewards of and is both financially and legally responsible for his own business. The majority of all distributors work as independent contractors and thus are not paid a salary, receive no health benefits and are responsible for paying their own taxes.

The DS-Max system runs similarly to network marketing businesses but with several key differences:

1) Sales representatives (distributors) generally work full-time (often six days, 60 hours or more a week), relying on their sales for their primary source of income, rather than a slow transition from part-time to full-time.

2) The individual owner assumes the cost and advertises for new distributors and finds a mentor for them, rather than the distributor absorbing the cost of recruiting.

3) Distributors receive the products on consignment rather than paying for them up front and there is no fee for becoming a distributor.

The business only grows when new distributors are added. While DS-Max as a whole has grown quite large through the years, the vast majority of distributors and managers in affiliated distribution operations in the DS-Max system have not enjoyed success. In the 20 plus years of operation the Ds-max business model has generated some tremendous success for a small group of Vice-Presidents, or as they are referred to now, National Consultants, but the question of how many have found success in Ds-max compared to the number who have attempted to achieve success can only be answered by analyzing accurate, detailed records of these organizations and their affiliates. However the nature of their operations make it unlikely that such documentation exists.

I being con before. DS-Max. Their lousy plan is you start as trainee -> Leader -> team leader -> assistant manager -> manager. From trainee to become leader, you need to hit weekly target. Then, as leader you can start con others to be your downlines. Once you have 5 downlines promote to team leader. As team leader, you will be entitle to suck some commision from your downlines (5%) of the daily total sales.

Assistant manager is 10%. What really make money is when you become manager. DS-max is selling many thing but whatever they are selling, you earn RM 2-3 each item they sell. Mostly the manager earn RM 1000 ++ daily

FYI, manager really earn that much. Believe it. That why they are growing. The main issue is how you can become the manager. You need at least 13 - 15 downlines. Now that the hardest part. My ex uplines have been working for more than 5 years. He has been promoted as Manager before but de promoted when your men leave the team. So from there, he keep on struggling until today. Still same not making money.

The system seem great but no guarantee. People don't like walking around selling thing. So is hard to get people. My advise is you can treat it as temporary job while hunting others. My experiencee in the company was great. We penetrate a high security building e.g military kem, Maybank and many more. Chase up by the security. Sometimes the inside people may help you also. Is a fun job but making money.

Chase up by the security <---- this will sharpen your skill in sales and to be alert on outcome of your action. It is hard to penetrate military camp... if you could... you might have talent in sales..

Please do not upsell DS-Max here, this is exactly how they psycho people into these jobs. For example, FYI this and that manager really made 1k daily etc and etc, but that is just him, you have to be really good to be like that... blah blah blah,

I was working in Cobra group way back in 2002 for a period of 10 months. My experience is as below.

The way the company operates in India is the way it works worldwide. The five steps and eight steps in the company teaches you how to make a sale. On the field not every person you meet will buy the product you sell. It is your personality and the way you approach gets a sale for you and foremost the law of averages works there the best. The more number of people you meet the more number of sales you make.

I acquired the art of selling in CObra Group which I am proud to say today. I gained the confidence to meet anyone that I come across as I use to meet 60 to 70 people a day as most of you quoted included small time guys to big shots in south and north india. And for the information to all who talk bad about Cobra Group I would like to let you know that I am currently working for HCL as an Assistant Manager incharge of Opeartions.I am from Thoraipakkam branch. Cobra group played a vital role in my career. Those 10 months at cobra exposed me to the best of the things that management schools teach. Now I am one of the youngest guy to be an Assistant Manager in HCL BPO. I am not an MBA from any reputed university.

It is again the perception of each person. For example every single person over here would have come across a LIC Agent in your life atleast once. What do you think they do? They sell policies and get commisions on the premiums you make. So do you think the nations biggest insurance company is a fraud company beacuse they dont pay basic salary to their agents. Guys please think before you write here. Also when someone donate for the charity oraganisatoin thro cobra it is true that a part goes to cobra which is considered to be in Charity organisation's balance sheet as Advertising expenses. How many of you go and donate to CRy on a yearly basis. How many of you respond to the flyers by yourself and drop a cheque. Most of the flyers go to bin. Instead these organsiation go to COBRA group to create awareness and uses the advertising material only if a contribution is made which in turn saves money. So guys please think. In everything you do there is something to learn. Dont jump to conclusions. Most of the BE's and MBA's get lined up to COBRA beacause they dont get job else where and try to show their smartness in these websites. If you are an Enginer or an MBA from a reputed university it is so surprising that you didnt get a job else where.

Not everyone is born to run a business. I am one of them who didnt have the balls to sustain in the business and run my company. Still my aspiration is to run a business of my own and if I succeed I definitely would say that it is beacause of the experience I gained in COBRA group.

And lastly do you think corporates do not have liars and cheaters. My dear freshers corporartes have got Liars, moelsters and too. so are you not going to work anywhere then??? So the destiny is in your hands.

I gave my best shot those 10 months and couldn't come through so left the organisation. So try if you can if not look for something else and keep going.

In my opinion COBRA is not for everyone it is only for the ones who want to run their own business.

after reading all postings and giving interview at cobra and what i conclude is:

i believe these recent postings of favoring cobra and ace group are good indirect marketing tactics by them only.

i am not saying any one should believe me too, but whats wrong in appearing for their interview and check these following things:
1. Compensation structure - how and when under all possible circumstances. coz when whenever i tried to get details, they always changed track.
2. Have you earned your PG degree to ask charity for a company who doesn't even has a web page, shares office space with countless number of companies, offer marketing profile but actually this is another type of sales.
3. What is your future after this company. If it is closed or you wanna leave, what competency are you going to gain by asking for charity which would fetch you a decent job. Even selling a product or a services would teach something which would be relevant to many industries.
4. They will say that they collect money 'on behalf' o[censored]nesco and who, really so?, I think they collect money and deposit a percentage of that to unesco and who and keep it as revenue - business ethics?.
5. Check the quality of trainers. I saw people who were looking like and they were trainers. one girl was wearing a sport shoe on formal cloths (wtf.. u r an multi national group).
6. If you love making fool of people and have no problem in destroying careers of others of the sake of own, go for it.

Considering the bigger issues please understand i scraped my for 16 years to do do my engineering ...for past one year i didnt get a job ...

when I approached a Engineering company they said i will have to pay them 75, 000 to get a job as i will get experience here whom do i write about ... about the discrepancy in our judicary which spends 33 crores to safeguard a murderer Qasab and let go the accused scot free in the nithari murder case and punish the poor servant kohli for it
when i had to get my convocation certificate i had to bribe the office clerk. whom should i write about the the autonomous system which works on bribing at every step.
what about those 90 million children who dont even get food, clothing, shelter when our politicians are stacking money in swiss banks and building palaces and robbing the farmers of their lands whom should i write about .?????

I also agree with all those comments posted. They told me to be with there executive entire day and watch and understand his work. His work was selling credit cards (door to door) that also giving false information to customers.
Salary they are paying is on weekly basis which they are claiming can go up to monthly standards.

Yes, I was going to be victim about the same. I got a call from Roshni (that time) somewhere in Jan 2010 as I have uploaded my CV in various job portals.

They had taken a name as Orbit Organisation and their office was somewhere in Marol, Andheri East.
When I entred the office, I was asked to sit and I waited there for maybe 20 minutes.

Then the girl who was sitting at reception said that she is Corporate HR head. And she only took my interview. At that time only I was assured that this is a fake organisation.

Vishal, they have changed their modus-operendi, for me there was just one interview by so called receptionist cum corporate HR head. She asked me some idiotic questions, at that time only I have decided that I am never going to join that so called subsidiary of Cobra group.

After some 10 minutes of the interview as expected I was selected. The receptionist cum Corporate HR head then explained me my "career path". How I will become Assistant Owner within 2 years and bla bla bla.

To identify such subsidiary is very simple. THEY GIVE THE RANGE OF 14K TO 25K WHEN WE ASK THEM ABOUT THE SALARY. SO MOMENT A COMPANY OFFERS YOU SALARY WITHIN THAT RANGE BE ASSURED THAT YOU HAVE LANDED UP IN FAKE ORGANISATION AND DEFINITELY YOU ARE GOING TO GET SELECTED.

All they Do is Cheating, Fraud and Juiced (That's a special word they use when somebody leaves their company) (Like Juiced ho gaya sala !!)

First they will conduct some stupid interview where there is nothing like an interview at all. After there is some psychometric where their representative (So called as Corporate Trainer) will take you to some apartment that too without any Permission. You feel just like your are a theft or something. Then they will show some stupid demo of how to cheat innocent People and Grab the Cheques from them on the names of charity. If the donor is hesitating to give the cheque then they will tolerate him giving some stupid reasons like "This is rainy/monsoon season going on and People are dieing and some ." That seems begging like only.
Then around 5-6 o'clock they ask to return to Deep Bungalow office for another round. Where one of the above mentioned owner will take ur casual interview and that is it... You are In without any Tough interview.

Now going back to the office work. Any Newly graduate will feel happy that He got the Job and going for an office. But he realises that there is no Office only. There are hardly 2 rooms where different sessions on " How to Cheat a Donor " happens daily.
Every now and then they will take your Pitch Practice till you become perfect in lieing and fooling the People.They will also teach u by giving examples of How to Crack the Security Gates and How to fool the Security Guards (Keeping these Poor Fellows Job On the Line) They will teach u each and every way to "Unauthorized Gate Ent
Office timings are 8.30 to 8.30. Plus can not sit in the office as there are no chairs only. From 8.30 once session starts, it goes till 10.30 and


then the Donkey Work/Begging/Fraud/Cheating (Field Work) starts. Your team had allocated some PIN Codes like 38, 30, 28, 01 etc and you have to work in that Particular PIN code only where thousands of People have already worked on. They i[censored] luckily crash the gate u have to visit or Disturb around 1000 of doors without even caring the timings. Or If the Security Guard Catches u then u have to Pay the Fine or Even go to the Jail. Then after 6-8 hours of this work, I[censored] lucky u will get at most 1 or 2 Che-ques which will give u (Rs 165 or Rs 200) + u have to listen to Peoples Abuse and Irritation/Arguments. Imagine an Engineer Graduate or MBA rubbing his for the Whole day without any knowledge of Lunch getting 300 or 200 for the whole day. (Pathetic Work) + They will not Even Pay u the Travel Allowances. U have to Manage Everything on your Own. + If some Donor has complained against you then also u have to manage the situation on your own.
(That all comes in Sales)

If the Pune territory is Saturated then they will take the Road Trips to other Cities like Goa, Aurangabad, Surat etc (Road Trip is nothing but Begging in some other City)

Now within 2 Days or somethings u will become the Corporate Trainer and Now u are the one who s gonna fool other Candidates and this Cycle Goes on until your Observation (Trainee Candidate) Becomes Trainer and so on and So Forth.
(That Comes in HR)

There is no issue for Administration as Separate Admin is also there and she also gets around 8000 only.

Next Step is Assistant Owner and then the Owner.

This whole Process will take around 2-3 years. and then u left with nothing loosing all other career options. But I am sure there is no space for the Owner Now coz all these Baid's, Rajpal's, Kumar's etc are sitting over us and they will never let there share to get Divided.

By the way I would also tell u that If by chance i[censored] collect the Big Che-ques like 10000 or 18000 or more. I am sure that one of them gonna get Bounced. Because they Put these Che-ques on their own name and Grab all your Hard Worked Money.
Same thing happened to Me So Many times.
Plus i[censored] collect the High Value Che-que above 6000 value. It will take 6 Weeks to Processing (God Knows Why) and till that time u have to Stick around with that Company for your own Money.(Crap !!)

This bloody cobra group is also working in Kolkata in the name as OSH MANAGEMENT, PANACE etc..One of the business manager, sukesh khanna, at mumbai think himself at par with the IIM GRADS!!! Though that fellow himself is only a pass graduate...and become a business manager by begging door to door...this cobra group sucks your career.they dont pay you any salary...only commission...that also not in time..but at the time of interview they will tell you that u r going 2 earn rs 50-60 k within 6 months...so people be aware of this company...
