Hi,
I bought the Godrej 236 L2 Start Inverter on 18.10.2020 (invoice attached). The refrigerator was running fine until day before yesterday when it started making a heavy noise and after some time it stopped cooling altogether along with a continuous blinking of green light behind the refrigerator.
I raised a complaint on the Godrej customer care number yesterday and a technician (from M/S Rita Refrigeration Works) was assigned who after a brief inspection concluded that the compressor has stopped working and will need a replacement.
When purchasing the product, we were assured that the compressor has a 10 year warranty period but the technician mentioned that although the compressor will be covered under the warranty, we will need to pay an additional charge of approx. INR 4, 000 which, as per the company policy, is always required to be paid whenever a compressor is replaced. We also asked to only replace the compressor (which is under warranty) and ignore the other works to which the technician replied that he will only replace the compressor if we take the additional INR 4, 000 services (please see the service slip attached from the technician with writing stating these points).
We are really surprised to hear this as this is sort of misleading the consumer claiming that the compressor will be covered under warranty for 10 years whereas in reality the consumer will need always need to pay an additional charge of approx. INR4, 000 whenever there is a compressor replacement. This is totally unjust and not expected from a corporate like Godrej.
We also paid a service charge of INR 550 to the technician who said that this charge will not be adjusted against the INR 4, 000 if we lodge a complaint. Additionally, what we found as utterly unprofessional and lack of quality control from Godrej was when in the end the technician stated "If you lodge a complaint against this, I'll personally make sure that your ticket is never resolved and you won't get your compressor replaced anytime soon".
We have been a Godrej customer for the last 30 years (refrigerator, washing machine, etc.) and never expected that the compressor of the refrigerator will stop working in merely 2 years and what makes it even worse that we are asked to pay an exorbitant INR 4, 000 charge to replace the compressor which was earlier claimed to be under warranty.
This is totally not justified and we request to maintain your goodwill and honour the relationship that we have maintained with Godrej. As such, kindly take necessary action and do what is appropriate i.e. replace the compressor with no additional charge as claimed by you people during the sale of the product.
