I've taken one medical insurance policy for my mother from oriental insurance through pnb with a coverage of 5 lakhs/annum. It's been 3 years continously with this policy without breaking any term now my mother has started complaining about her loss of vision. We went to dr. Shroff charity eye hospital and they recommended to operated it. We applied for cashless claim but they rejected my submission by saying "it is pre-existing disease and can only claim after 4 years continuation of this policy", i've also read the policy and can't see this disease listed under waiting period. I would like to make a mention here that under this policy we haven't had claimed anything from the past 3 years, my mother had already been operated for cataract surgery in both eyes (Before we have taken this policy, if we had an idea about this problem earlier then we could have taken the claim with our previous medical policy), we were never being told about this problem"

If anyone comes from a non medical background how can anyone get to know about this, only if when he/she starts complaining about loss of vision.
I can't accept this as a pre existing disease when you don't know it is there inside your body and you can't claim it as comes as pre existing disease.
I've gone through whole policy and i can't see this "puckering of macula" as a pre existing disease.
I have already spent thousands of rupees while continuing with this policy.
I've sent numerous of mails explaining the same to medi assist india but they are not responding at all.
