I booked a ticket from Calicut to Hyderabad on 8th March 2016, travelling date is same.
I booked the ticket at 2:25 PM and the scheduled departure of the bus from my pick up location (IIM KOZHICODE) is 3:00 PM.
I was there at the pick up location by 2:40 and started calling the number given in the ticket, that number is not reachable. Finally I got the correct contact number by calling the customer care.
By the time I got the number it is around 3:10 PM.
Now the drama started, I called the guy and he told me that the bus is at 7:00 PM, and asked to check my ticket correctly. I verified it couple of times and then called customer care to know the details. Customer care confirmed me that the bus scheduled departure is 3:00 PM.
After a long wait and after lot of discussion I came to know that the bus is cancelled because of less occupancy.
By the time I ran out of all the options to re plan my journey.
I had couple of questions to the executives
1) When can you cancel the bus?
2) Can you cancel a bus just before the scheduled departure? (remember I booked a ticket 30 mins before the actual departure time)
Nothing was answered logically / rationally.
When I said you need to pay my travel, there is no proper response from the team.
Around 4:00 PM one executive called me and told to me if I can reach Mysore by 7:20 then they can arrange a bus from there. I am not sure how a person can reach Mysore in 3:00 hours from Calicut ( I am at IIM kozhicode when he called).
I was discussing the issue till 5:00 PM and I am almost vexed with the discussions and told I will book a flight for tomorrow. While talking to these guys around 4:45 or so, kept the call on hold and informed to book a flight ticket for me to my travel agent. I got a message with in couple of mins about the booking for flight.
When they heard about me talking about I will book a flight, once again drama started, people then immediately started calling me and said they can provide a cab till Mysore/Bangalore. These guys offered this because they understood that I have already informed about flight booking.
I am not happy with the way the entire issue was handled.
Here are the losses I incurred.
1) I ended up staying here at Calicut for one night which I need to pay for the accommodation.
2) I am supposed to reach Hyderabad 9th March 2016 and attend my office, because of this I lost a leave.(loss of pay which is good amount)
3) I ended up travelling during the day (most of my productive work is gone).
4) I ended up paying good amount to flight.
I assume I have every right to demand for the compensation for the losses apart from my ticket amount refund.
