On Nov 9th, 2023 I placed an order for delivering a package from Guwahati, Assam, India to Bothell, Washington, USA. Before placing the order, I called and provided the weight and dimensions of the product (a picture frame with no glass) and got an estimate of 6840 INR. I also got the same estimate from their website. I also called to ensure that the product will be delivered safely as it is a family heirloom product and I did not want it to be broken. UBT assured me that the product will be delivered safely. They also said that minimal packaging will be sufficient as they will do the whole packaging themselves. They kept messaging to submit the deposit asap and after I did the same they picked up the product. No third party was ever mentioned to me. On 13th Nov 2023, they told me that the product was delivered to Delhi in a broken state. UBT apologized and said that the third party they used broke the product and I have to pay for repair. A few days later, they sent me a quote of 17334 INR + repair cost which is a lot more than the initial quote. Again a few days later, they sent me an invoice of 29134 INR which is approximately three times the cost initially quoted. At this point of time, I lost my trust of the company and refused to pay. They sent my product back in a damaged state. Pictures of the incident is attached.
I lost the time to find a more reliable courier company to send this valuable family item to my house in USA.
There are 2 things I want from UBT :
1. Fix the broken frame at your cost. I did not authorize the use of a third party. Since you used a third party company to take the product, it is your responsibility to fix it.
2. Find a way to send my product to my home in USA safely at a cost which was initially quoted. Was this information helpful? |
