Vodafone — Unverified billing

Dear Sir

I have been a user of the services of Vodafone for almost 7 years now.

Recently, one fine day I received a message from Vodafone saying that I have to pay Rs. 4000 immediately as the same is due and I should pay it. Since my bill is a direct debit on my credit card, I assumed that this may be a mistake as the same cannot be due. Further the previous bill that I received showed nothing due, and last bill was Rs. 502 which was paid on time.

To add to it, a day later, my outgoing calls were barred and a day later, my phone was disconnected. When I called up the customer services of Vodafone, I was not given any satisfactory answer. To the least of my satisfaction, I was also refused to be given copies of my old bills to prove that the bill is due.

The customer service manager - Vinesh Thakkar - told me that the bill is due for August 2007 and that they have only realised it now and that he can only give me a statement of account but no bills will be provided and that I should trust Vodafone and pay the money.

This comes as a real shock to me that a company is demanding to be paid Rs. 4000 without giving any proof and that too for a bill which is almost 18 months old.

The worst part is that I have no remedy, I am being punished as my phone is out of service for 9 days now and while I did write a mail to the customer service head of Vodafone, after one email reply saying the same thing that Vinesh told me, I have not received any communication from them.

This is the worst thing to happen that a company is punishing its customers for a mistake which was made at their own end, and they are not even willing to listen to anything and not even give any proof of the same.

I request you to please look into this matter and get the same resolved and take the responsible to task.
