[Resolved]  Dell Inspiron 1525 — Plugged in, not charging

Yes, like everyone else, i was dupped by the dell (Yet again) i was not happy with my desk top from a few years back and i should have not repeated the same mistake, ordering from dell again! So, i am partially to blame! But i was in a bind and had to purchase a laptop fast and didn't have neither the time nor the resources to consider another alternative (Or at least a little more educated before making a costly commitment like this)!
Anyway, the problem with this "expensive piece of junk" is what plenty other people have noted: right after i ran out of warranty, the battery (Which was noit fully charging before) depleated to 85% (Even plugged in) and from 85 to 50% and soon after i am looking at 29% and it is going down 1% everyday. Again, please bare in mind that the computer is always plugged in and never on without external power.
I am so concerned and don't know what to do, as i have heard the replacement batteris are mostly refurbished and do the same thing after couple of months! So, that means even if i buy another battery, there is no guarantee that is going to last me any more than couple of months. Plus with today's economy, i can not effort buying a "new" batthery and pay for installation and check run, etc.. Etc.
So, please take this as a complain, from a very frustrated dell consumer or venting and my little way of expressing my huge disappointment with dell (With their hurrible india -based customer support) and if nothing can be done about my problem, at least someone could be saved from making the biggest mistake of their life: buying a dell notebook! Or dell of anykind!

DELL Inspiron 1525 — Battery

I have bought inspiron 1525 in april 2008, and its battery had not been charging since sept 2008, i have complaint about this so many times, these dell service people are not interested at all. I will never buy another dell product.
Hi everybody,
I have the same problem (battery not charging) with dell 6400 laptop . I bought another battery it worked for a month and then the same problem. Searching a little bit I found out that it's a hardware (motherboard) broblem.

Here is a solution you might like, I bought an external charger from eBay cost me around $50 including shipping. Now what I do is take my battery out put on the external charger and put back when it's charged, interestingly both of my batteries are working good.

I used to be a big fan of dell for long time, but I thing I will look around for other options the next time I buy. It seems to me that dell doesn't care any more. 6 pages of complaints so far and dell doesn't give a damn about it, at least ask one of your incompetent Indian tech to post something.
I have purchased dell inspiron 1525 in september 2008 now my warranty period had been expired, its not charging, just plugged in, can u tell me if there is a problem in the charger or battery?
thnx
nidhi
Yep Bought a Dell 1525 November 2008 then 1 year and 1 month later pluged in not charging. Then what a coincidence my work laptop did exactly the same and ow yes that was a Dell 1525 and yes 1 year and 1 month old as well absolutley amazing that how unlucky am i. Sorry for the sarcasm i will never buy Dell ever again support none existance very disappointed with a company in a previous company i worked for i bought a lot of dell grear for years and found them to be very reliable with good support. Ahh those were the days NOT NOW though
I have bought 50 machines from Dell over the years for offices, friend and family. Mine died 367 and I got nothing. They need to be sued for this. It smells classaction.

Dell WS-Inspiron
Model No. INSPIRON 1525
KEY NO. MDXTP-3Y6DX-899TB-XRVBX-Q6RB2
same problem is occuring with my 1525 inspiron, the charger is charging sometime and the stored charge in battery is not increasing above 10%, and slowly decreasing, plzz don, t buy dell lappy!!!
Stating the obvious here but just to add to the complaint list I too have the same problem with my wife's 1525. It is a year and three months old. I have not replaced the battery or charger because I don't want to waste the money if it does not work. As far as it being a motherboard issue as I have seen stated many times while researching this problem, it's not worth spending the money on the cost of a motherboard when I can just purchase a whole new laptop for a little more. This is obviously a flaw by Dell and they need to address it!
Same-same..."plugged in, not charging" on my Inspiron 1525. I purchased an extended warranty but didn't want to turn it in for fear of them deleting my hard drive. So I decided to buy a new battery THEN by a new AC adapter...nothing worked!!! I finally got the guts after being told that this problem won't effect my hard drive. Got the computer back with no hard drive and they didn't even fix the "plugged in/ not charging"!!!

Dell blows...they lost mine and anyone who will listen to my story's business!

Dell / Xps M1530 — Dell totally concerned for selling complete care warranty in spite of getting technical issues resolved, No ownership taken for problems

I complete agree, even I am facing the same problem, Onsite Engineer came from Wipro on behalf of DELL and came for getting hinge cover replaced. But after replacing a loose connection it worked. Also, not to mention in this xps touchpad never worked, not even by the onsite engineer, even after getting the system restored to factory settings and also after replacing the touchstrip of the computer.

Support Request - DL5H4K1 - XPS M1530 - Case #:[protected]KMM10325331I23241L0KM)

As per Dell Computer Technician: As there is a log stating the hinge cover has damages which wont be covered under the warranty, With the complete care warranty we can get the parts replaced which I have a mail from " indiaxps_ap <[protected]@dell.com>" before that I asked for the option where in the warranty it no where states that if the parts have been damaged or broken by onsite engineer it won't be replaced and consumer has to suffer for the same.

All the help I received from Dell computer is to purchase warranty for Dell and get it replaced, which is quite frustrating. Even after repeated emails I was not provided ticket number , which later I received after contacting Email Support of Dell as I wanted in writing the actions which were told to me over phone.

Kindly suggest the way forward, as I will purchase the warranty, no issues ..but I don't want others should suffer like I did. I don't hesitate raising my voice against something that is being done wrong. No ownership is taken for the problems faced by users and no responsibility holded by Dell Computers Technical Support

Hope to get a response from your end.

Warm Regards
Abhinav
Went to eBay, there are hundreds of "used" Dell 1525 power boards for sale. Obviously Dell has a significant problem with them and obviously not owning up to it.

Do a search on:

DELL 1525 1526 DC POWER JACK REPAIR 48.4W006.011

This eBay seller will repair you board for $31.25 (US)
I'm not connected with seller user name: brickfence

If this was a Toyota problem the govt would be involved..but Dell continues to KNOWINGLY sell faulty parts!
My Dell Inspiron 1526 is doing the same thing. I have only had this laptop for a year and I have nothing but problems with it. If anyone draws suit, I would love to be involved. I have tried every possible "solution" they have on the internet and nothing works. I have spent money on a new battery and charger and updated bios and uninstalled driver. Nothing worked.
I have a dell inspiron 1525 in august, same problem with plugged in not charging ... and lappy gets too much heated in half an hour...DELL is Horrible
Hi Friends,

Dell is the name only, no performance. Only 1 yr 2 months and the battery expires. Is this the quality? My inspiron 1525 is shutting down after every 10 minutes without any prior notice. I will never recommend anybody to purchase dell products. Its a total waste. I am totally disturbed all this f...ing hide n seek.

if you don't have technology, keep ur factories closed, why are u deceiving us.
